Someone should start a thread for fake words. I think eclipse once started one and there was another one called “fun words” (or something like that) where people came up with funny definitions to words. A combination of the two would be good.
October 30, 2011 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #873471Shticky GuyParticipantBH: Fantastical is a gr8 word. Similar to some from Eclipse’s thread. She had wonderful words there such as fantabulous and awesometatious.
See http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/words-your-family-made-up
Come back, Eclipse! Nobody, and I mean nobody, ever came up with witty, lomdish and original threads as she did. She was head & shoulders above the rest of us. Check out the threads she started at

Anybody have any news of her since she gave her computer away?

Also sesquipedalian, for the same reason. 😀
April 26, 2012 12:22 am at 12:22 am #873487writersoulParticipantPneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. I love it because even though it’s long it’s easy to spell if you’re able to keep all the different parts in order, and it makes you sound smart :). (It’s a disease people get in mines, I believe.)
Did you know Disraeli was an antidisestablishmentarianist? I learned it in AP Euro.

April 26, 2012 12:56 am at 12:56 am #873490writersoulParticipantkapusta: Awww, thanks! I really appreciate that :).
I’m always nervous about revealing my age on forums, because people tend to discount what teens say based on their age.
OOM: That’s why I stick with pneumonoultramicroscopicsilicovolcanoconiosis. Just as impressive-sounding if said and much easier. (In fact, is it possible to SAY your word?)
April 26, 2012 12:58 am at 12:58 am #873491OneOfManyParticipantProbably not. But don’t attribute any ownership of that word to me – I renounce it entirely. 🙂 Also, totally with you about age – in fact, I rarely say my age in real life, either. 😛

Actually this gives me an idea. I’m gonna start a new thread of weird place names. That should be fun!
May 13, 2012 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm #873501writersoulParticipantI just took my AP Euro exam, and apparently in the 1400s were some German wars called, wait for it, the Schmalkadic Wars! I don’t know why, but I found that so hilarious (maybe because nothing else in European history is funny at all…..).
