so the comment probably passed without a ripple
It seems like you want it to pass. You really want it.
But my point is Sac is not loca. If you call her that, you can siddle up closer to Mr. Ben Turah.
October 27, 2010 6:43 pm at 6:43 pm #902890blinkyParticipantBP totty- your last comment in Bnos Sara vs…. thread regarding me and sac- What makes you think im not this nerdy unwithit person? 🙂
October 27, 2010 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #902891SacrilegeMemberSqueak
If you havent noticed, I let a lot of comments slide.
Livin the crazy life? Not so much.
Altho… BPT! didnt know there was a big Ricky Martin contingent in BP!
October 27, 2010 10:03 pm at 10:03 pm #902892bptParticipant#1 – Its not a “crazy life” in a bad way; its more like “mad” or “the bomb” (is that term still in use?)
#2 – the reason that phrase was on the table is we have the Rechnitzer Rejects CD in the car, and they use the “vida loca” tune for the song “he’s a yeshiva bocher” (and my kids thought it was a riot that the real words are to a song which promotes the exact opposite (?) of the life of a yeshiva bocher
#3 – Blinky, had you been this “nerdy, un-with it” person, you’d have said, “a klienfeld gown? Why would I want a gown from the kleinfeld family? I don’t even know them!”
Ok, you may not be the Range Rover, sportfan that Sac is. But somehow, I don’t see you as the frumpy, kensetonia, ears covered type either. You push back too hard when cornered.
If I had to guess, I’d say Honda Oddessy EX-L is your ride, but your more likely to be spotted in H & M, than S & W.
Am I close?
October 28, 2010 1:12 am at 1:12 am #902893SacrilegeMemberLiterally interpreted, “La Vida Loca” – means the crazy life. I dont think it means crazy as in swirl your finger at your temple CuKoo, more like livin it up.
Especially if you know the words of the originally song which… I so happen to.
October 28, 2010 2:25 am at 2:25 am #902894blinkyParticipantbp totty this is scary!!!!!!!!!!!!!! youre actually pretty perceptive!
p.s. hows the broken telephone coming along? do you need help? its really a lot to do- good luck!
October 28, 2010 3:58 am at 3:58 am #902895kapustaParticipant#3 – Blinky, had you been this “nerdy, un-with it” person, you’d have said, “a klienfeld gown? Why would I want a gown from the kleinfeld family? I don’t even know them!”
ROTFL!! BP Totty, you’re making me think of the good old days on the CR. When the shmooze thread (#2!) was always in the top few threads.
October 28, 2010 5:03 am at 5:03 am #902896vnishmartemmeodMemberBPTotty – you seem to understand the female species a little too well for not being one of ’em… pretty cool!
October 28, 2010 2:05 pm at 2:05 pm #902897bptParticipantUnderstand them? I’m married to one, remember? And 100% of my married friends are also married to females.
Not to hard to understand, once you get past the makeup. But for the life of me, I’ll NEVER understand getting your eyebrows plucked.
I can understand if you have a “uni-brow”, but to pluck them down to a pencil line? And to pay money for it to boot?
No, that’s a mystery.
And the “broken telephone” story is still on the stove, but on slow simmer….be patient!
October 28, 2010 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm #902898SacrilegeMemberWaxed not plucked. *ouch* cant handle plucking.
October 28, 2010 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm #902899cokeMemberBPT-
I am scared of you! Who knows what else you can figure out about any of us. For all I know, I will be walking in BP one day and hear someone behind me say “that must be coke….I can tell in her walk, hair, car…..” Pretty freaky! Well anyhow, just because you are married to a lady doesn’t mean you know us that well. I think it’s more because you are perceptive than because of your marital status! 🙂
October 28, 2010 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm #902900blinkyParticipantsac- same here, should we even tell him what a threading is??
October 28, 2010 2:46 pm at 2:46 pm #902901SacrilegeMemberI cringe every time I see those booths @ the mall.
How about lazer? Thats my new project 🙂
October 28, 2010 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm #902902aries2756ParticipantNO! Let him think it has something to do with blogging.
October 28, 2010 2:49 pm at 2:49 pm #902903cokeMemberblinky- no! he knows enough! Don’t educate him further! LOL
October 28, 2010 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm #902904blinkyParticipantIm tempted….
October 28, 2010 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #902905cokeMemberwhy? what about educating him further attempts you?
October 28, 2010 3:10 pm at 3:10 pm #902906SacrilegeMemberWoman, really, its called Google.
October 28, 2010 3:14 pm at 3:14 pm #902907adorableParticipantwow! he has way too much time on his hands! anyone need to hire a new worker?!?!? I think he can use another job.
October 28, 2010 3:14 pm at 3:14 pm #902908blinkyParticipantcoke- its not the actual education- its the reaction to it:)
October 28, 2010 3:15 pm at 3:15 pm #902909SacrilegeMemberadorable
Apparently we all can 🙂
October 28, 2010 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm #902910bptParticipantMalls???!!!
That’s it, I’m outa hera.
Let me know when we’re back to cars
October 28, 2010 3:22 pm at 3:22 pm #902911cokeMemberBPT- you are just keeping us busy with something other than what we should ALL be doing….work! 🙂 but why are you in malls? That is all together not where I think a regular guy belongs hanging out!
October 28, 2010 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm #902912bptParticipantAnd relax. I can’t spot <you> in particular; its more like within a margin of error (+/- 10%) women fall into one of 3, 4 categories, so you may think I have you pegged, but it more like I have you narrowed down to 1 of 10,000 possibilites
October 28, 2010 6:00 pm at 6:00 pm #902913WIYMemberBP Totty?
Really, women fall into 3-4 categories? Now I’m intrigued. You really sound like you have this down to a science.
October 28, 2010 6:05 pm at 6:05 pm #902914blinkyParticipantwomen fall into 3-4 categories
maybe its chassidish, yeshivish, yeshivish with it, nerdy?
I think there are more categories though.
October 28, 2010 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm #902915squeakParticipantTwo categories, actually. But don’t ask me to define them, I don’t want half the world turning against me 😉
October 28, 2010 6:43 pm at 6:43 pm #902916bptParticipantNo science, really, as men fall into 4 basic slots as well:
Modern
Yeshivish
Squarebacks (sometimes called Tunas)
Chassidish
The details (wears a hat (brim up or down), wears a gartel, has peyos in a knip, in a corkscrew, colored shirts, ect) are just that; details. You’re 80% one of the above, and the rest is just fine-tuning.
Women, by and large fall into one of the following 4:
Modern
Yeshivish
Chassidish
Tzvai muhl tzig’decked
All the variations (long shaitle, short one, covered with a hat, with a band, wears denim, doesnt wear denim, snood covers ears, snood doesnt cover ears, ect) are just minor tweaks. Same bottom line: You’re 80% one category or another, and the rest is just details .
October 28, 2010 7:03 pm at 7:03 pm #902918shimmelMemberLOL!!!!!!!!!!!!bpt
you just gave me a good chuckle !!
October 28, 2010 7:09 pm at 7:09 pm #902919blinkyParticipantBP Totty- ok i guessed 2 out of 4 thats not bad:)
Tzvai muhl tzig’decked
Can you explain- sorry for my ignorance but yiddish is not one of my languages (yeah i know its probably the easiest and most common term thats used but my imagination gave up)
October 28, 2010 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #902920WIYMemberBP Totty
There’s a lot of mini categories in all the 4 categories. You may be technically right that there are 4 general categories but that tells you nothing because there are so many subcategories. If you say someone is Chassidish you know NOTHING unless you ask a whole lot of other questions.
Ill talk about the men. Just a few examples, there’s a big difference between Lubavitch, Bobov, Satmar, and Breslov, in Chassidish. There are very clear differences.
Now by Yeshivish, you have the shtark Yeshivish Lakewood chevrah, but you also have chevrah like Chofetz chaim guys who aren’t so yeshivish but they aren’t modern either. Same for yeshivos like Chaim Berlin or Torah Vodaas…
Even in MO there’s differences which I am less familiar with so I won’t comment on.
October 28, 2010 8:09 pm at 8:09 pm #902921cokeMemberBPT- once again you gave a nice summary of the situation! You are right on target! Just thinking about my friends and I think those 4 categories really cover everyone. Of course there are differences in the categories, but they are a great way to start. I see you have lots of time on your hands to analyze the women and put them into categories! good job again! Keep them coming! It’s cute to see how the men out there are able to categorize us! LOL
October 28, 2010 8:22 pm at 8:22 pm #902923bptParticipantWIY –
Let me tackle yours first. Yes, I know, there are vast differences between Satmar and Bobov. But when measured against someone like myself (yeshivish) both Satmar and Bobov are chassidish.
Blinky – It translates to “2 times covered” which means (depending on who you ask) a shaitel and a hat, or a hat with the cloth underlay, or a shaitel with a triangular band over the shaitel.
For the record, there is a 5th level, but thats almost non-existant. Its called a “shtern-tichel” (lit: a fore-head tichel)
which looks like a brown helmet, with a pearl/ beaded crown in front.
Guess your not from BP or Willy, are you Blink? Either that, or your circle of friends is really focused. But now that you know what to look for, you’ll probably realize you’ve seen them all before.
October 28, 2010 8:24 pm at 8:24 pm #902924bptParticipantAnd Coke –
Its not that I have the time.. I MAKE the time. But don’t just stand there on the sidelines; lets hear YOUR version of how people stack up.
October 28, 2010 8:26 pm at 8:26 pm #902925blinkyParticipantGuess your not from BP or Willy
Oh so now its whoever lives in these places MUST speak yiddish? (ok i can understand willy)
October 28, 2010 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #902926cokeMemberi plead the fifth!
October 28, 2010 8:29 pm at 8:29 pm #902927cokeMemberWhy would you want to hear the way I “break down” myself and my friends?
October 28, 2010 8:30 pm at 8:30 pm #902928shimmelMemberbpt if your yeshivish, like you claim how do you know all the nitty gritty details of chassidus??? Your must be around for a long time!
Shtern TIchel???? I don’t think i’ve ever ever ever saw something like that…(in all the years i’m alive :P)
October 28, 2010 8:33 pm at 8:33 pm #902929cokeMemberleave it to BPT to know that stuff!
October 28, 2010 8:59 pm at 8:59 pm #902930WIYMemberYeah I always thought BPT was chassidish or Heimish.
October 28, 2010 9:07 pm at 9:07 pm #902931blinkyParticipantor maybe a TB? 🙂
October 28, 2010 9:07 pm at 9:07 pm #902932cokeMemberWIY- I think he is! I am actually positive that he is! I think if I met him I would know it’s him in a second.
October 28, 2010 9:09 pm at 9:09 pm #902933blinkyParticipantcoke- you would sniff him out just if hes chassidish or heimish?
Welcome to BP (almost) everyone in bp falls in that category (excluding me)
October 28, 2010 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm #902934shimmelMemberhe’s def. heimish …nothing to talk about.. or coming from a more hiemish background than he is right now
October 28, 2010 9:42 pm at 9:42 pm #902935blinkyParticipantWhy doesn’t BP Totty tell us for sure what he is? Lets leave it up to him and not our imagination.
(On second thought, he’s probably busy working on the broken telephone thing so maybe we shouldn’t bother him with our silly conversation!)
October 28, 2010 9:42 pm at 9:42 pm #902936bptParticipantWoah, its not nearly as much fun being UNDER the microscope!
OK, lets put out this fire, ASAP.
#1 – no, Blink. Its not the yiddish, its the fact that you’re not familiar with chassidishe ladies. I would have guessed between school, work, the summer, traveling to and from, weddings, ect. you’d have seen what I’m referring to.
Your an OOTer?
# 2 – Shimmel, you think my tag BP is just for laughs? Living here for all these years, I’d be blind not to have picked this stuff up. And like I said, the shtern tichel is a rare sight. Doubtful you’ll see it on anyone under 40, and even then, its 1 out of 1000 probably. Most likley, a rebbes daughter.
# 3 – Me, a TB? Nah. My wife does’nt dress the part, at any rate. And coke, you probably do see me all the time, the problem is, I’m as bland as sliced white bread in real life, so I probably don’t even register.
And for the record, heimish is really a yeshivish guy, who has’nt moved to Lakewood..yet. Once he relocates, he’s just another yeshivish guy, so yesterday’s heimeish is gone tomorow.
OK, lets move on, shall we? I’ve got another thread to post (along these lines). Think this one’s got you ROTF? Wait till you see the “Bus to LA” thread….
October 28, 2010 9:48 pm at 9:48 pm #902937blinkyParticipantBP Totty- in response to #1- i didn’t know what the yiddish phrase meant bec, i dont know yiddish. Now that it was explained in English i know what you are talking about! (though its interesting that you put that in a category)
Aww your not a TB? Shreck! I could have had some fun teasing you…(jk)
October 29, 2010 10:13 am at 10:13 am #902938vnishmartemmeodMemberHe’s not a TB, I’ll vouch for that. His english is waaaay too good for THAT!
October 29, 2010 10:14 am at 10:14 am #902939vnishmartemmeodMemberBPtotty – you got some chassidish relatives, don’t ya? Admit it…! (otherwise it’s too scary to contemplate how perceptive you are… and a male to boot!)
October 29, 2010 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm #902940cokeMemberBPT- I can not believe you that you are not Chassidish at all. I am sure that even if I never saw you, I have seen a million of the same type. I still believe that you are heimish…..or have that stuff in your blood. If not, then your friends are probably close to that…..Do you wear a shtreimel on shab? That is a good way to start figuring this out.
