September 18, 2017 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm #1366312FreddyfishParticipant
Is this what hashem wants from us or are we overdoing it?
September 18, 2017 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #1366356👑RebYidd23ParticipantWe are supposed to do our best to remain alive.
September 18, 2017 3:36 pm at 3:36 pm #1366442GadolhadorahParticipantthe obvious intention is to be certain that the bus driver cannot see through the window and has no idea that a jaywalking guy wearing his latest shemira einayim sunglasses cannot see the bus…….at some point, you simply take a deep breadth and hope that this is truly Fake News and there is no substance behind the story….
September 19, 2017 6:50 am at 6:50 am #1366657WinnieThePoohParticipantI think it is great- someone wants to be machmir in a certain area, and instead of making a big ruckus about how everyone should conform to their self-imposed standards, they are doing something very individualized, so that they can keep their standards without forcing it on anyone else. I don’t see that anyone is handing out these glasses in the local shuls, or demanding that Egged place such windows on public buses. So what is wrong with someone trying to do what he feels is right for himself? maybe that is not what Hashem wants from you, but he feels it is what he needs to do.
September 19, 2017 7:43 am at 7:43 am #1366670👑RebYidd23ParticipantIt’s a threat to his safety and mine.
September 19, 2017 10:18 am at 10:18 am #1366699TASParticipantWhat is the danger RebYidd23?
September 19, 2017 10:33 am at 10:33 am #1366756apushatayidParticipantif this is sincerely motivated, kudos to them. now, they need to find the proper guidance.
September 19, 2017 10:34 am at 10:34 am #1366768👑RebYidd23ParticipantHe won’t be able to see where he’s going. He’ll bump right into a woman. Shocked and dazed, he’ll then walk right in front of a bus with covered windows.
September 19, 2017 1:02 pm at 1:02 pm #1366878heimy613Participantits one of the rasons to the problem of otd
September 25, 2017 10:59 pm at 10:59 pm #1369769tobsParticipantWhy would that be true?
August 30, 2018 11:01 am at 11:01 am #1583426slominerParticipantThe Seforim say that a man should look at the ground whenever he is walking in public.
August 31, 2018 8:02 am at 8:02 am #1584066ParticipantParticipanthere’s actually a quaestion that’s been nagging at my heart for a while….everyone says ears see automatically, eyes semi-automatically, and mouths aren’t automatic at all. Its a message that we should use our ears most then eyes then mouth. But then were told that actually seeeing bad thing is most dangerous.
August 31, 2018 9:26 am at 9:26 am #1584094apushatayidParticipant“The Seforim say that a man should look at the ground whenever he is walking in public.”
Actually the seforim would never advocate doing something stupid. (then again, “the seforim” could mean anything found on the shelf of a judaica shop published by anyone who has the means to do so). walking while looking at the ground is like walking with a blindfold. what the seforim advocate is looking downward and not all around you to limit your line of site.
August 31, 2018 10:20 am at 10:20 am #1584114slominerParticipantapushtayid, thank you for the correction. When you’re walking in public and looking downwards, how much do you find your line of vision to be limited by?
August 31, 2018 10:51 am at 10:51 am #1584120apushatayidParticipantI dont know. I dont look downward.
August 31, 2018 12:19 pm at 12:19 pm #1584126slominerParticipantWhy not? Doesn’t that inevitably cause inadvertently seeing inappropriate sights, which is the reason (as you said) that the Seforim say to look downwards?
August 31, 2018 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm #1584133Reb EliezerParticipantThe doctors say that looking in the sun causes cataracts. It says in the Midrash עיניו למטה ולבו למעלה keeping your eyes low, seeing oneself low and aspiring to high at least by davenen as in SA O”CH 98:1. Seeing ones lowliness and Hashem’s greatness.
September 1, 2018 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #1584309apushatayidParticipantIt can. Doesn’t mean I’m right . My point was, If one has a valid point to make, don’t taint it with inaccurate citations.
September 2, 2018 12:18 am at 12:18 am #1584322Dr.LoTovParticipantIt’s a chaval that we are born with eyes, it leads to do many aveiros. That being said, shame about our feet which take us… A pity we were ever born. Maybe we should wrap ourselves up in blindfolds completely so that hakodosh boruch hu will Shep nachas from us.
September 2, 2018 7:52 am at 7:52 am #1584349Reb EliezerParticipantThe more we see our lowliness the more we see Hashem’a greatness.
September 2, 2018 1:20 pm at 1:20 pm #1584536👑RebYidd23ParticipantHonk if you love Hashem. Cover your eyes while driving if you want to meet Him.
September 3, 2018 12:04 am at 12:04 am #1584693147ParticipantMy sunglasses are all ready for the total eclipse of the sun on Erev Rosh Chodesh Nisson 2024.
