Wisdom is not the same thing as knowledge. Depth applies more to personality than to intellect.

Yet people accuse Open Orthodoxy of breaking with tradition.

I know. Same with Catholicism. Here the jews are expecting their women to earn a living and they accuse the catholics of breaking with jewish tradition.
Amazing how hypocritical and hypercritical these jews are.

Being deep is being an analytical thinker and curious, liking to get to the bottom of things. Many scientists and philosophers are deep.

B’H, I have both!
February 1, 2016 7:22 am at 7:22 am #1134660ShiiMemberI think that the bottom line is, that no matter how smart or thought out a boy or girl is. And how shallow or un-shallow each spouse is, they must have someone guiding them. The world is such a sick and twisted place, and sometimes even sincere and good people with the right intentions can get confused an off course. So all in all, Daas Torah and a personal Kesher with a Rebbe is essential to thrive and fulfill our Tafkid in this world.
Agree???

No! I already know what my Rebbe would think. Who said your mentor is the right way? People have to learn to think for themselves! And to prove my point, look at the different opinions posted here on YWN.

Health: you think you are both deep and wise, that is a very subjective opinion. It is always good to look outside of yourself for a reality check. And if you are already doing that, then why not use a person who has das torah for that reality check.

After thousands of years of shidduchim I’m pretty sure we’ve figured out that both boys and girls are equally shallow. Boys want beauty and respect. Girls want status and to feel cherished. Both want money. While girls are equally shallow as boys, some people consider them to be more shallow because they are expected to be less shallow by those same people in society.

Who has the Das Torah according to you? S/O who has a position of power? I’m telling you – I have that Das Torah which I learned by real Godol!
You’d be able to comprehend what I’m saying, if you’re both deep & wise!
