Two old friends meet up and wish each other a hartzige Shalom Aleichm. Or two random Yidden meet and before having a small chit-chat over some common issue they give each other a Shalom Aleichem and Aleichem Shalom. But all these various scenarios are between two men. I don’t recall ever seeing two women giving each other a Shalom Aleichem/Aleichem Shalom. Certainly not in the chareidishe kehillos. Is Shalom Aleichem a guy thing?
Ladies – When on the street or when inside and you meet a neighbor or colleague or relative or acquaintance or friend or ask a random person for information, do you initialize the conversation by greeting her with “Shalom Aleichem” (while shaking her hand) and/or respond “Aleichem Shalom” to another woman who greets you?
just like more modern people say whattsup to introduce themselves when they see each other again, woman have girl talk ways of saying hello to each other. from saying it in a light way to a more introducing way when it comes to more honorable people like a rebetzin or mother-in-law
