funny, you guys don’t know either of us. ok, he’s the best- but i could be a lot better. for one, i don’t think he’s too thrilled with the way i am. not that he ever says anything, but you gotta be an idiot to not figure that my parents are upset about it.
May 6, 2009 5:10 am at 5:10 am #646093anonymisssParticipantmoish, he could be a good father, love you, and not be very happy with you, i don’t see the contradiction.

May 6, 2009 5:12 am at 5:12 am #646094moish01Memberno contradiction there.
it’s the other part- about me being a good son- that doesn’t fit in.
May 6, 2009 5:14 am at 5:14 am #646095anonymisssParticipantuhh… i think i said either, or. Didn’t I?

May 6, 2009 5:17 am at 5:17 am #646096kapustaParticipantmoish, you still can be the type of son he wants. (that was not mussar-ish)
May 6, 2009 5:17 am at 5:17 am #646097moish01Memberhaha thanks for all the encouragement 😉
kapusta, with all the guilt in the world, i would hate myself if i transformed in order to live up to someone else’s expectations. there’s a limit to what i’ll do for even my parents.
May 6, 2009 5:18 am at 5:18 am #646098anonymisssParticipantmoish, I controlled myself from saying something like that.

May 6, 2009 5:22 am at 5:22 am #646099kapustaParticipantwell thats a proper attitude, the idea is to do it for yourself, not for someone else. (funny how this resembles the conversation on the smoking thread)
May 6, 2009 5:26 am at 5:26 am #646100anonymisssParticipantI agree with that, moish. You can’t live your life according to other peoples standards. People have to live up to what they expect of themselves. That’s what makes a person that can say “this is me!”

just to keep in mind that even if you missed counting a day, don’t miss a day building!
May 10, 2009 5:26 am at 5:26 am #646106iluvchulentMemberSo Chaim says to Yossi on the first night of Sefira, “Can you be Motzi me with a Beracha?” Yossi responds back incredously “How could you have messed up already? Its the first night!!” Chaims responded “Looks like I’m going to have to be Motzi you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
May 11, 2009 8:33 am at 8:33 am #646107jewishfeminist02MemberIn past years, I’ve had difficulty remembering and would always inevitably forget, even though my mother always puts up signs around the house saying “Don’t Forget to Count the Omer!” with big smiley faces. This year, now that I’m away from home and have to do it on my own, I don’t have any problems. I think just knowing that it’s completely my responsibility has motivated me to be focused and aware enough to remember to count every night. I also have a system rather than just counting any old time after sunset- I count in bed, just before I say Shema. So since I never go to sleep without saying Shema, I also never go to sleep without counting the Omer. It’s simple and it works.

May 21, 2009 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm #646109chofetzchaimMemberThe Mets Manager said to the bench coach, “Hey, what’s the count on Omer Santos?” The coach responded, “The last pitch was two-and-two; that’s two balls and two strikes to Omer!”

May 24, 2009 11:16 pm at 11:16 pm #646116mepalMemberI’ve lost count ages ago! So I just do the counting without the bracha (hope nothings wrong with that)
