In these trying times,I’d like to hear of segulos to avoid being harmed by goyim.
I heard of
1.not talking in davvening
2.washing three times with a keli after using the bathroom.
anyone know of any others?

November 19, 2014 1:11 am at 1:11 am #1042769JosephParticipantGiving tzedaka.
November 19, 2014 1:23 am at 1:23 am #1042770ivoryParticipantI’m afraid that in today’s massacre an Uzi would not have helped because they were attached from behind before they knew what him them.
November 19, 2014 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1042773BilboParticipantWhat are these segulos and why have i never seen any of them in my (granted limited) time studying Torah? Live your life as best you know how (at times proactive at times reactive) and recognize that life will happen.
November 19, 2014 3:21 pm at 3:21 pm #1042774zahavasdadParticipantI am sure those Kedoshim were careful in their actions and yet they will killed in their tallis and Tffillin. Segolos are not a good way to look at thing. At least the Uzi might have prevented more than 1 death as they would have killed him after the first attack
November 19, 2014 3:43 pm at 3:43 pm #1042775ED IT ORParticipantProtection is from the RBS”O. (hey does that abbreviation work?)
November 19, 2014 4:14 pm at 4:14 pm #1042776zahavasdadParticipantOne should not run in the middle of the BQE wearing Tallis and Tfilling holding a Tzdekah box in order to collect from the oncoming Vehicles and expect the Hashem to protect you because you are doing a Mitzvah.
One needs to do whatever it takes to protect themselves without relying on a miracle.
November 19, 2014 4:19 pm at 4:19 pm #1042777BilboParticipantI just posted this Gemara on another Coffee Room discussion but I believe it is pertinent here as well. This Gemara is in Avodah Zara Daf 18

Your Point?
November 19, 2014 5:08 pm at 5:08 pm #1042779🍫Syag LchochmaParticipanthe has a very good point and he explained it in the line you omitted.
protection is from Hashem, no question, but that was your answer to his suggestion of weapons, and that is not necessarily enough. His point is that we should understand that protection comes from Hashem, but not to rely on it. If you are ch”v in a dangerous situation, you would be negligent to stand and do nothing, expecting Hashem to sweep you out of trouble. The more protection you make for yourself, the less open the miracle to save you.
According to some, if one does not have the zchusim necessary to take him out of an unnatural circumstance, he may die even if he was not meant to.
November 19, 2014 8:46 pm at 8:46 pm #1042780HaLeiViParticipantNor should one run into the middle of a gang fight holding an Uzi.
November 19, 2014 8:56 pm at 8:56 pm #1042781HaLeiViParticipantYou can’t protect yourself from ????? ????? ?? ?? ?????. It is actually important to realize that we are not in our own hands. There are Segulos Leshmira and there are protective measures, but don’t let this lead you to the understanding that it is you who is in control. This is the lesson we are to take from death, as the Pasuk states.
Having said that, a great Segula for Shemira is Betachon and the motto of ?? ?? ????? ????? ??? ????, in the real sense. When Rebbi Akiva and his Rebbi, Nachum ish GamZu, said this they meant that actual good thing will come from what seems bad now. They didn’t mean that it is good for them. This is illustrated in the story with Nachum ish GamZu’s sand and Rebbi Akiva’s candle, chicken and donkey.
You can also look at the Chida’s Avodas Hakodesh for some Tefillos.
But don’t make the mistake of the Dor Haflaga, to think it is in your hands physically (as in making a pillar to hold up the sky) or spiritually (as in going up to fight).
