My father had a stroke when I was in 8th grade and my sister was in 7th grade. We had no money for yeshiva high school as my father could not work. Faced with the prospect of enrolling in Public School, the rav of the elementary yeshiva that we attended not only gave us scholarships but fought to get us scholarships for high school, ( in the early sixties this wasn’t easy ).If not for him, we most likely would not have stayed frum.
