So my sister was sobbing to me about how her school has “takonos” for mishloach monos on purim,
apparently they make a gorel and each girl picks 2 names, and no one knows who gave who and apparently this way every girl ends up with at least 2,
my sister wanted to give her whole year!
what is the point of the school getting involve?d
are the schools gonna make a gorel for the afikoman on pesach?
What do you think of this?
and whilst we are at it do you think its the norm for her to give her whole year? I personally think we already give way too many!

We grew up giving 5 classmates each, that’s all. It is too much to give every person, a nice thought, but not practical, way too expensive. She should have her parents in mind, and specifically her father’s wallet, not her friends’ appetite.
My school had the same rule, at least in my days. We got to give to 2 girls only, chosen by gorel.
I think it’s a great idea, considering that it’s the parents who have to foot the bill when their daughter decides she’s close personal friends with half her class.
I dont know how old your sistser is, or where her friends are, but as a parent, another consideration, besides who will foot the bill, is, who will chauffeur this girl around town as she delivers mishloach manos to 50+ friends. Certainly wont be me 🙂
I make cookies or something for my whole grade which I give out in school, and then have separate shalach manos for on Purim itself.
