Why is it that everywhere I ever davened, when saying ???, after “…??? ????”, people speed through “…???? ???” and especially by ??????.
Why is this? Is it some Halacha? Segula?
Its not like thats the end of davening. There is still leining and Mussaf afterwards.
And then they finish their speedy ??? and the ??? starts ???? and I’m still in middle of ??? and can’t answer ???.
The one time a year they don’t speed is on Sukkos, when the Rebbe spends half an hour shaking the Lulav and Esrog by ???? ?????, then I have plenty of time to finish ??? with Kavanah! (But then, of course, after shaking, everyone starts speeding to the end! But by that time, I’m already done for 15 minutes!)
It seems like a race. Who can finish first!

They are restless by the time they get to the end so go back to their normal way of being in a rush. You can ask this question about many random things that people do that don’t make sense. People will do this toward the end of Shmona Esrei as well, people just can’t concentrate for that long in today’s society.
I thought it was just my shul.
You are right; the ammount it takes to say from after Onoh Hashem, is less than 30 seconds. Forget about omain after the bracha.. I sometime miss yehei shmei from kaddish as well!
And its not like the Baal Tefila has a dislike for shlepping. Go figure
9) Boruch H-shem le’oilam amen v’amen (maariv) – doable with difficulty.
11) V’hi no’am (motzei Shabbos) – doable with difficulty.
12 Sfiras ha’omer – doable with difficulty.
I think the baal tefillah is embarrassed that ppl will say he’s slow, and can’t read hebrew properly, so he skips a small or large part of daveing.
i hear them say shmonei esrai, and know there is no way they said the rest so fast.
similar point with “ending off syndrome”: did you ever notice that when people use a bentcher for bentching, the will most ofte close the bentcher before the end, like when the get up to “yiru”.
is the end of bentching a “second class citizen” that it doesn’t deserve the kavanah of saying it from a bentcher.
Same idea: oleinu (or whatever is the end of davening for you) while walking toward the door of the shul, or finishing up the folding of you tallis or putting away your tefillin.
It’s not fair that these parts of davening/bentching should’nt get the same attention as the rest just because they are at the end.
perhaps its time to find a better minyan
I have also seen this in just about every Dati minyan I have ever been in. I do this speeding at the end of Hallel because my father does it and this is what I saw all the old men at shul when I was young do. I figured if they were all doing it, it was like some old Minhag or something.
I asked my father why he does it and he more or less gave me the same reason.
I find it hard to keep up Shabbos by day from after Haftora until the begining of Shmona Esra. Every week I wonder how everyone is ready to satrt together with the Chazan and I am the only one not ready.
For a long time I had difficulty with this as well.
In the end, I decided to just start when the tzibbur did and stop (wherever I was in the tefillah) when the chazzan went on. I eventually found myself being able to go further and further in until I was able to able to finish without difficulty.
