It is an extension of Stockholm Syndrome- a person identifying with something that is scary to him. At least, that’s what I was taught in Psych 101 in high school.
For the same reason people post here. Sometimes a high (compliment, praise) sometimes a low (ridiculed, taunted), and sometime a really steep dive (left to your imagination)
I like speed, which is only half the thrill of a wooden coaster and 1/10th the thrill of a modern coaster, so roller coasters aren’t really my thing. I’ve discovered I don’t like the feeling of falling.
I hate roller coasters. but i did not want my campers to call me a sissy, so i went on one of those upside down ones, and it was the most fun i’ve had in a long time ( still hate them, cant explain it)
And, in the spirit of Elul, we are all being mevater on the discomfort of the scratching-your-nails-on-the-blackboard chill we get every time we pass by, and we’re not saying anything.
maybe the OP meant “coster” as in “one who hawks fruit , vegetables , and other stuff” and the “roller”is wherever she stores the things she is hawking
