Anyone here have a robot vacuum?
It feels so nice to have the house vacuumed right before Shabbat but I don’t always have time. So often I vacuum on Sundays.
A friend has a robot vacuum and she said that it’s amazing. It vacuums their house everyday and goes back to the charging station when it’s done!
May 5, 2017 10:22 am at 10:22 am #1270340Ex-CTLawyerParticipantMrs. CTL wanted one for cleaning up all the dog kibble in the room where our 4 are fed. We spent the $600 on a Roomba. It went all around the room spreading the kibble, not containing it. It worked just fine in other rooms with carpet, not so well on hardwood floors or tile. After a week of disappointment, we returned it for a refund.
Now, that spring has arrived the kibble bowls have been moved outside onto the porch, less to clean up ion the house.May 5, 2017 2:02 pm at 2:02 pm #1270413DovidBTParticipantSounds like a good opportunity for a new product from Kosher Innovations.
May 5, 2017 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #1270417MenoParticipantUmmm
It already exists.
And what would be “Kosher” about it?
May 5, 2017 2:55 pm at 2:55 pm #1270420DovidBTParticipantWhat’s “Kosher” about the KosherLamp or KosherClock?
“Kosher Innovations products were designed to solve basic challenges that relate to Jewish observance…”
Based on CTL’s report, there’s a need for improvement in the existing product.
May 5, 2017 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm #1270458MenoParticipantWhatโs โKosherโ about the KosherLamp or KosherClock?
They solve problems that only apply to Orthodox Jews.
It would be silly to market an improved version of a robot vacuum as a “kosher” product.
Dirty floors are just as much of a challenge for non-Jews as it is for Jews.
May 5, 2017 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #1270465DovidBTParticipantThe product could have special features that only apply to observant Jews. Use your imagination. ๐
May 5, 2017 4:04 pm at 4:04 pm #1270467MenoParticipantOooh I know..
Maybe they can make a robot vacuum that also makes chulent!
Or maybe just make a crock pot that vacuums the floor!
May 6, 2017 11:17 pm at 11:17 pm #1270574Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantIt is set to automatically vacuum the floor every day except for Shabbos and Yomtov.
May 6, 2017 11:50 pm at 11:50 pm #1270578VerZogtParticipantMy wife recently bought model 880(?). She is thrilled with it.
May 7, 2017 8:43 am at 8:43 am #1270639MenoParticipantBut does it make chulent?
May 7, 2017 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm #1271326Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLB – I have to give you the biggest thank you!!!!! You really helped me with a piece of advice you inadvertantly gave me in your op. One of the biggest problems in my life this year has been the fact that my mother expects me to get the cleaning done every week, but I can’t clean when she is around, and she is always around, so I haven’t been able to figure out when to do it.
She is usually out of the house for several hours on Sundays and Mondays but it never occurred to me that I could clean on a Sunday or on a Monday. I had this idea in my head that the house can’t be cleaned before Tuesday since I always think of cleaning as “cleaning for Shabbos”.
After I read your post, it occurred to me that there is no reason why I can’t clean on Sunday or Monday! For one thing, the house doesn’t get dirty that fast, and for another thing, my mother just needs to know that I cleaned the house at some point – I really don’t think she cares when.
So I spent today cleaning the house, and now I don’t have to worry about it for the rest of the week! Thank you so, so, so much for the idea!!!!! You don’t know how much you helped me!
May 7, 2017 10:31 pm at 10:31 pm #1271394LightbriteParticipantOMGOSH!!! It’s amazing. Does your automatically clean on Shabbos? Does that require a shaila?
May 7, 2017 10:38 pm at 10:38 pm #1271404LightbriteParticipantLol. So interesting because I just used it on my carpets and hard flooring. Because it does that sweeping thing, I thought that it did a better job at picking up fur from the hard flooring vs carpets. But I don’t know.
But yes I can def see how it would spread kibble all over the place.
๐ Sending blessings to Mrs. CTL. Hope she’s good. ๐
May 7, 2017 10:38 pm at 10:38 pm #1271398LightbriteParticipantYay LU!!! And this is extra special because I thank my friend for teaching me to clean on Sundays!!! ๐
When I spent Shabbos at her place once, I was sweeping some food or something from the floor (I’ve done this before for a Rebbetzin who said that it is okay if it is not like actual work and it’s for the experience of Shabbat —Like I could also take a full bag of trash out of the house and put it in the trashcan outside too on Shabbos). So anyway, my friend told me to just stop and relax because on Sundays she cleans the house anyway and that’s how she starts the week.
It feels so good too! Yays so glad that it worked out for you LU ๐ ๐ ๐
