Hello to all,
I will soon be be”h opening up a new fast food restaurant in one of the large frum communities. The restaurant is going to serve a variety of sandwiches, all on baguettes including schnitzel, steak, grilled chicken, 220g burgers etc, etc.
I have been debating between two names and I’m curious to know the opinions of my fellow coffee room readers.
The names I have been contemplating are grill bar and baguette bar. I would appreciate some opinions.

Grill Bar…id I had 2 choose between the two..
Grill Bar is way too generic. Baguette Bar is a little better, but I would be concerned about people just thinking you’re confusing it with Burgers Bar.
Not crazy about either. How about Baguetteria?

Baguette bar is the better of the 2.
Speaking of which, did you hear about the S.Y. and the Ashkenazi who opened a restaurant together? It’s called Douek and Feffer.
I think something like “The Baguettery” would be nice.
For sure not baguette bar. It doesnt sound like fleshig food.
And if you are interested in a personal opinion, I think Grill King (or HotSpot) would fly with less resistance than anything with the word “bar” in it. Not sure which hechsher you will carry, but many of them will balk at putting their name on a place called a bar. (At least the ones in my immediate area.)
The real question is, how good are your fries and onion rings? And will you offer a real good garlic mayo dip?

Are you talking about a real French-style baguette? Or what’s called a hoagie-grinder-sub depending on where you live?

There is now a restaurant in Williamsburg called Trayf. Why not call yours simply Kosher?
Actually, I don’t like either name. I think you can do better.

Unless you are really a 600 kilo bear, I think that you’d be satisfied with 1.5 pounds of meat with all the fixings.
How about “The Grill Guy”? Puting a picture of an oversized “Grill Guy” fliping hot burgers on your adds will surly make some people hungry… and that name should go well with a fast food take out store. (if you open something fancy then you need a more classy name).

Grill Bar may get confused with Grill Point if you are in the New York area.
i like deiyezooger’s idea :D.. but if i had to choose btwn the two of those i would pik baguette bar because it soundss better because they both start with ‘B’
🙂 I don’t eat carbs on weekdays. 1.5 pounds of raw meat is about what I use to make ONE burger. One nice-sized bag of chopped meat from our local shoichet and factory = about 1.3 to 1.5 kilos = 2 hubcap sized burgers for me. Even one 220 g burger on a bun would be enough though; the empty calories of the bun would fill me up.
I’m in Eastern Europe – I know my metric measurements very well!

600 Kilo – if you lived here in Canada, you would also need to know your metric measurements. The odd thing in Canada is that the supermarket fliers still advertise their goods in pounds, so that the items sound less costly than if advertised by the kilo.
Baguettes were all the rage when I was in seminary many years ago, so to me, baguettes just seem milchig. If you want to include “baguette” to differentiate yourself from a standard burger joint, I second Baguette Grill.
Please let us know when and where you open!
I don’t like either name at all. Sorry. Baguette Bistro from Mewho sounds more interesting. La Belle Baguette? Baguette Bonanza?

Maybe in the US they should start selling gaseline by the liter, it will be much cheaper that way.
I learned in Montreal and I remember the ads very well. Very confusing indeed.

no offense but the two original names arent so….. original and catchy enough to get customers

Grill it, does not give you a sense of the type of restaurant this is supposed to be. I think “baguette” should be somewhere in the title.

I love oomis’ suggestion of “La Belle Baguette”. It sounds tres chic. Of course, French is one of Canada’s official languages.
