A simple “until the 4th hour of the day” would be more than enough!

Yabia, it is not correct. When necessary, one can daven until chatzos even though he might not gain the reward for tefila bezmano, davening in its time but it is considered davening. The question is whether one can daven after chatzos in the half hour until mincha.

Eliezer shkoyach for your heilige pilpulim but what I’m saying is that most people would’ve even be able to tell me the simplest answer.

Even if an oines can daven after sof zman tefilla, (and too many people have stretched the definition of oines….) one can NOT say Birkas Krias Shema. In other words, that means that after Yishtabach, one must skip straight to Shemone Esrey. Quite a guilt-ridden experience….. certainly not one worth repeating!

    Dear Yabia,

Your being way to simple about things. A solid majority of marriage age boys would know this. And among long term learners, almost all of them know the basics. Are you talking about in the tenth grade?

nOm: go ahead, test it out.

n0, you are right about learning being different from professions and a (popular) test may lead to only people passing (a trivial) test being accepted. Still, historically, people will have semicha exams, tests when hired as Rabbis … We use a lot of modern tools – search divrei torah by keywords, drive to a shiur, buy books with translation, etc. One of those tools is ability to expand testing from one great teacher to be replicated to many. As an aside, I was skeptical about multitudes of multiple choice questions my kids have in online schools, but I now see the strength of ability to routinely test and get feedback on your performance without hiring a teacher to sit near you and grade your work. As I see, some people here started asking possible questions. Maybe we can collect a bunch of diverse questions to come up with a test and then can go around and report how people/kids performed.

I’m not in any yeshiva. When it comes to anybody who wants to stay learning as long as they can, there is a ninety five percent chance that you’ll be wrong. Your setting the bar way too low.

    Dear Always,

That’s a data test. It does not give any indication of how the student approaches the gemara.

    Dear Yabia,

Almost every long term learner will ace all your questions. Iyour simply incorrect. You have to raise the bar significantly to maintain your point.

n0, look at SAT. It has questions from several areas and of different levels. You can measure a mix of qualities and abilities.

    Dear Choosid,

Not at all! The point of learning is for the Torah itself. To be attached to the Torah. As it alone is the only reality.

By learning and being close to the Torah, lishmo, we also get close to Hashem by showing appreciation to His Torah ישקיהו מנשיקות פיהו.

Should be above ישקני, kiss me with the kiss of his mouth, Hashem should kiss us through the kiss of his, the Torah being uttered by the mouth.
