and your attitude if you’ll allow yourself to be intimidated

aussie: nothing to do with size & how they look. at least not the people i’m talking about.

anonymisss: but i don’t go in thinking about it at all. i just talk to them like anyone else but for some reason some people are intimidating & some aren’t.

AOB, I think its dependent on the size of your bank account, for example, people who drive a nicer car, feel they own the road. Similarly, people who come from homes with money, (sometimes) feel they can boss around someone who comes from a home without money.

kapusta: but what i’m talking about, i don’t think they do it on purpose. they don’t even realize it sometimes.

    AOB, sometimes yes, sometimes no.

whoa…ok, i’m talking about regular teenagers (or whatever, peers or equals), not people who put others down, just normal people who are intimidating. you ever had that?

AOB, yes, yes, yes. I remember once compiling a list of something with (actualy oddly enough I’m good friends with her) she is very opinionated and I suggested something and she said “I dont agree” for whatever reason it was we stopped at that point (maybe a teacher came into the room or something) but it occurred to me after that I should have said something like “Ok, you dont agree, but I do, why do you get to decide whats final?” One thing about her, (I think this leads to her “intimidatingness”) she talks with a bit of an accent (not real, weird to explain) and she talks in very “adulty” words. like aware vs. cognizant (I hope shes not here)

kapusta, I know exactly what you’re talking about with the accent, I know someone like that. It’s annoying but you have to be able to see past that and chances are that the reason she’s doing that is because she’s trying to be like ________, meaning, she is not feeling as great about herself as she appears to be.

But even seemingly perfect people have insecurities.

except for ames… 😉 my sense of humor might be coming back.

kapusta: yeah, i know someone like that.

Some people intimidate others because they seem so perfect. They bring out shyness in those around them. Other people feel like they can’t measure up.

yeah, like that. but even if you clearly see some faults they have, they still seem sort of perfect.

I’m starting to wonder if some members of the CR know other people who are possibly the subject of other members posts…

AOB, I once saw on someone phone (dont remember whos even) her banner was “I’m intimidating” my question is, why would someone aspire to being intimidating?

it’s hard to see your own amazing qualities. You know what it is about yourself that you don’t like, but it’s harder to appreciate your good traits. Some girls seem so pretty, popular, smart, rich, good … and it’s easy to feel inadequate compared to them. Even though you know their lives are not perfect, you wish you can have more of what makes them great.

ames, I dont have such problems 🙂

ames: from your definition, i think i just got why one person in my shul, is so intimidate but another mespalel! thanx for the clarity there!

kapusta: if you’re talking about me, i really doubt we’re referring to the same people. i don’t know if anonymisss knows her though…

i kinda would like to be intimidating…but only to people who i’m intimidated by! i wouldn’t mind if it was mutual.

ames: nope sorry you’re one of the less intimidating people around here…very inspiring though 🙂 it’s different.

i don’t think that’s my problem though, because none of those things are really anything i have significantly less of than them. maybe it’s just that they seem to have more confidence & care less about what people think of them. i don’t know.

😉 so who do you think is most intimidating in the cr?

ames, I was joking, but I agree 100%. I’m almost sure I once posted a quote saying that from Lucille Ball. (I think its in the inspiring quotes thread.)

AOB, just curious, why do you doubt I know her and you dont know if anonymisss knows her?

Often a person’s body language will make them seem more intimidating. Likewise their bank account, social standing, degrees before and after their names, height, etc.

We can only be intimidated when we let ourselves feel inferior to them, and no one can make us feel inferior without our permission.

Now as to the mosquito problem. They HATE the smell of Bounce fabric softener sheets for some reason, according to what I read recently. Try keeping a sheet of Bounce in your pocket and rub it over your arms and face and see if it helps.

ames: yeah, i know all that. & i have gotten so SO much better at all that in the past few years, you don’t even know. that’s why i’m not so sure…

sorry to interrupt but could someone find me the some of the tznius threads on here? particularly ones that discuss skirts over pants/leggings and shortsleeves over long sleeves(no there is nothing technaclly wrong with the shortsleeves over long sleeves but was just trying to have a discussion with s/o and wanted to see what the CR had to say on the matter–i tried to start a thread but the mod claimed there was one) thanks because i was just discussing both topics with a few people

also, i just quickly checked that thread, mostly the conversation there is about tznius & actions (e.g. is rollerblading tznius) but feel free to look more carefully, cnp.

A LITTLE BOILING WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF THE CUP

    (sorry caps lock was on)

mix in a teaspoon of cocoa or hersheys chocolate powder or bosco liquid or whatever you have

    add sweetner

    mix thoroughly

    fill the cup with milk

microwave 1-2 minutes, keep an eye on it to not boil

look in the pantry to see if you have some marshmallows
