March 26, 2009 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #1079837kapustaParticipantvery random question: after washing for hamotzi, and someone else washes (and makes the bracha out loud, are you supposed to say amen? 🙂
March 26, 2009 10:13 pm at 10:13 pm #1079838areivimzehlazehParticipantyes
March 26, 2009 10:26 pm at 10:26 pm #1079841anonymisssParticipantkapusta, I’m nearly certain not, I’d advise you to ask your LOR.
~a~
March 26, 2009 10:30 pm at 10:30 pm #1079842moish01Membernever heard you’re not supposed to. “amen” isn’t considered a hefsek is it?
March 26, 2009 10:36 pm at 10:36 pm #1079844aussieboyParticipantkapusta: I am pretty sure you say amen.
March 26, 2009 10:37 pm at 10:37 pm #107984522OldGoldParticipantyou could answer amen to someone elses Brocha provided that you didn’t make HaMotzi first. Meaning as long as didn’t say HaMotzi you can answer amen. Once you make HaMotzi you have to eat before saying amen.
March 26, 2009 10:44 pm at 10:44 pm #1079846coke not pepsiMemberames-i did it!!!wowowwooow it is the coolest thing,thanks a ton

March 27, 2009 4:37 pm at 4:37 pm #1079852aussieboyParticipantJax: Yeh I thought it my just be my computer. It has a firewall and it probably gets its information from another site or something so it doesnt work. Oh well.
March 27, 2009 5:06 pm at 5:06 pm #1079853areivimzehlazehParticipantkapusta did you find out for sure from a rav? I was sure the answer is yes, but the CR makes it sound like a chalukei dayos…
March 27, 2009 5:55 pm at 5:55 pm #1079854an open bookParticipantis it worse (sadder for you, i mean) to watch someone you know mentally regress or for the same person to die?
March 27, 2009 6:48 pm at 6:48 pm #1079855JaxMemberaussieboy: yeah the weather comes from accuweather.com here!!!
March 27, 2009 7:22 pm at 7:22 pm #1079856anonymisssParticipantAOB, that’s a very difficult question to answer. It sounds like you are facing this challenge in some aspect of your life. I don’t think anyone here can answer that. Daven that Hashem give you the strength to withstand the challenge. Good Luck!

March 27, 2009 8:17 pm at 8:17 pm #1079859an open bookParticipantrelax, i’m not really struggling with an actual reality of this right now, b”h. but it came up & from how the conversation went it seemed like most people were of opposing opinion to me. & i wasn’t comfortable even bringing up my perspective with people i know, so i was asking here.
really, you can’t imagine yourself in a situation & consider what you would do? (you don’t have to be 100% sure to answer.)
March 27, 2009 9:11 pm at 9:11 pm #1079861JaxMemberan open book: a grandparent of mine had Alzheimers and it was extremly painful to watch if that’s what you mean, but you said mentally regress, so not sure if we’re talkin about the same thing!!!
March 29, 2009 2:22 am at 2:22 am #1079862moish01Memberrandom question triggered by JayMatt’s DT:
why is ma nishtana all the way in the beginning of the seder? technically the kid is asking about why everything is different before he even sees the differences? he didn’t yet eat matzah or maror, and only dipped once so far.
don’t tell me because he saw his mother preparing and knows what’s gonna be (that’s my dad’s kind of answer) because he also learned the answers in school.
March 29, 2009 2:46 am at 2:46 am #1079864kapustaParticipantyeah but he made kiddush and he saw matzah being broken, washed without a bracha, and ate a veggie dipped in saltwater 🙂
March 29, 2009 2:58 am at 2:58 am #1079865moish01Memberyou’re gonna get all detailed?
“shebechol halailos anu ochlim chomeitz oh matzah vehalaila hazeh KULO matzah” – technically he has no idea there’s no bread coming out in ten minutes.
didn’t see maror yet. none of the questions are about washing or kiddush. and he only dipped once.
March 29, 2009 3:08 am at 3:08 am #1079866coke not pepsiMembermoish- i didnt read jaymatts dt, but i think the chinuch roundtable in the yated this week was about that
March 29, 2009 3:31 am at 3:31 am #1079867moish01Memberwhat the heck is that? i’m guessing it’s some sort of article in the yated?
March 29, 2009 3:46 am at 3:46 am #1079868an open bookParticipantjax: yeah, my personal experience has been with dementia, but basically that’s what i meant
