Must you always know everything???
It was more random than my taste generally allows me to be.
January 5, 2009 2:19 am at 2:19 am #1078302asdfghjklParticipantanonymisss: yup!!! ahhhhh i c!!!!!
January 5, 2009 2:21 am at 2:21 am #1078303JosephParticipantasdfghjkl, she wanted to do the “in thing.”

January 5, 2009 2:35 am at 2:35 am #1078305brooklyn19Participanthow could it be the “in thing” if brooklyn19 remains using the same user-name???
:}
January 5, 2009 2:36 am at 2:36 am #1078306anonymisssParticipantasdfghjkl- I’m glad that you’re beginning to see the light.
Joseph- You may want to clarify exactly what it is that you refer to when you say the “in thing.” Or was that directed at someone else here?
January 5, 2009 5:45 am at 5:45 am #1078307Will HillParticipantDONT HAVE INTERNET
Please make some posts.
Everyone misses you!!
Where is dont have internet??
January 5, 2009 10:53 am at 10:53 am #1078308intellegentMemberjoseph
I don’t think I’ve done anything wrong to be ashamed of but I still don’t want people knowing who I am. I wouldn’t say some of the wacky things I do if my name would be displayed. In fact, I probably wouldn’t say anything. But you can go ahead and reveal yourself.
January 5, 2009 3:06 pm at 3:06 pm #1078309JosephParticipantintellegent, and if you didn’t say the wacky things you say (because your name was attached), would that be a good thing or bad thing?
January 5, 2009 3:07 pm at 3:07 pm #1078310jewishfeminist02MemberMaybe he doesn’t have Internet. 🙂
January 5, 2009 4:01 pm at 4:01 pm #1078311intellegentMemberJoseph,
Not important enough to me to analyze. You are welcome to though.
January 5, 2009 4:14 pm at 4:14 pm #1078312bored@workParticipantfirstly dont have internet is a she, on sunday she said she does not want to post because she is now known, she probaby created for herself a new username so we have to try and figure her out now…
what happened to nobody, teenager and shindy?
January 5, 2009 4:19 pm at 4:19 pm #1078313charlie brownMemberJoseph,
If being anonymous is so bad, why haven’t you yet posted your real name, address and phone number?
January 5, 2009 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #1078314squeakParticipantOffer to meet him for lunch and you’ll find out all of it.
January 5, 2009 6:09 pm at 6:09 pm #1078315squeakParticipantbored, I don’t know about the others, but shindy kind of signed out not too long ago.
I can guess at the other 2. Nobody seems to be more of a lurker and only posts when the flaming gets more out of hand than usual (to tell us to stop). As for teenager, I was going to guess that she is doing homework, but I think the likely answer is that…. she turned 20?
January 5, 2009 8:54 pm at 8:54 pm #1078316oomisParticipant“oomis – the Torah respects women. nothing to do with feminism. “
I both agree AND diasgree with your statement. The TORAH respects women. Some Jewish men do not, and that is why the feminist movement reached the frum world, as well. BTW, the Torah which respects women, for the most part ONLY mentions women by name, when the Torah deems it necessary, and in each case, the women distinguished themselves through some act that would be described as feminist in nature. For example, Sara, sending Hagar and her wild son away, for the good of Yitzchak, over Avraham’s objections, Rivka making the decision to ensure that Yaakov receive the brachos meant for Esav (not to mention making her OWN decision about going away with Eliezer, to marry Yitzchak), Rachel stealing her father’s idols, so he could not worship them,Tamar forcing the issue of Yibum with Yehudah in order to bring about the future Moshiach, Shifra and Puah defying Pharaoh’s edicts and saving the baby boys, Miriam giving her father mussar about having more children, Tzipporah doing a bris milah on her son,and of course, as mentioned so correctly, B’nos Tzelaphchad, etc etc.
If this did not have to do with what we think of as feminism, I do not knwo what does.
January 6, 2009 5:35 am at 5:35 am #1078317The Big OneParticipantwhats wrong with putting your name to your comments?
what are you afraid of?
January 6, 2009 11:26 am at 11:26 am #1078318intellegentMemberoomis1105
I think it has to do with how you define feminism. If you define it by the literal meaning of the word, you are right. But if you want to use feminism as in modern feminist movement, I don’t think that is in line with the torah.
January 6, 2009 2:47 pm at 2:47 pm #1078319squeakParticipant…..said the anonymous woman
January 6, 2009 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm #1078320SJSinNYCMemberDefinition from dictionary.com the doctrine advocating social, political, and all other rights of women equal to those of men.
Intellegent, as with any movement, you have extremists. So yes, you do have the extreme feminists who want to control everything and lord themselves over men. They are usually overcompensating for a lack of good male role models. So yes, there is the “I want to pretend to be a man” group out there, but generally they are the minority.
The feminists of the 60s-70s had to push hard for some very basic rights that many of us are fighting right now. Many women are still paid less than their male counterparts. Many women still hit plenty of doors careerwise. Many men still think women are inferior. Those women who pushed hard for our rights gave us the freedoms we so take for granted in America.
As for the Torah – the Torah is NOT anti-feminism. After all, we had a female leader well before any other religious group. Women have rights according to the Torah – we are not just there to serve men. And kollel society is feminist! After all, its the only group that I know of where the women consistently outEARN the men (yes I know I’ve said this before, but its worth repeating).
Oomis made a lot of good points.
Feminism is not anti-stay at home mom either – feminism is about the freedom to choose. So, you choose to be a stay at home mom rather than just doing it because thats what society tells you. You choose to get a career because you want to.
January 6, 2009 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #1078321areivimzehlazehParticipantback to anonymity – i was really getting scared someone would actually reveal themselves! I for one don’t want to find out the identity of all you crazies. It’s just too much
