May 18, 2011 12:02 am at 12:02 am #836265lesschumrasParticipantI know Rabbi Machlis since he was a boy in Brooklyn. His father was Rabbi Leon Machlis, who was rosh yeshiva of Yeshiva Ohel Moshe for over 50 years. My daughter spent a shabbos with them many years ago and she said it was great. You cannot believe how many people they host every shabbos.
Rabii Machlis is a true tzaddik and a great educator who has a special innate ability to reach any boy at the correct level and connect

May 18, 2011 6:40 am at 6:40 am #836269smile66MemberI went to them once, it was amazing. Their hachnosos orchim is truly out of this world. Not only do they give food, they give really good food, really good quality food, and in abundance too. They just give and give and give. There’s no cap on it. What I also really liked about going was that the rebbetzin actually gave a dvar Torah. That’s something you don’t usually see at a meal, but it was nice, and she had a lot of good things to say. Also, they went around the table and had anyone who had something to say speak. It was amazing getting to hear what all different types of Jews on all levels of frumkeit had to say. It was really nice. And the warmth of their chessed is just overflowing the place, you feel it.
I think everyone walks out of a Machlis meal amazed.
May 18, 2011 1:24 pm at 1:24 pm #836270justsimchaMemberAre you joking there are stories written about them all over!
Someone told me recently the only reason that rav machlis probably isnt a lamed vav tzadik is because he is too well known!
they may start a series of books with all the amazing stories that happened there.

As mentioned by others, their home is open to all. Most people know of their hachnosos orchim on Shabbos, few know of their hachnosos orchim all week long too. Always a hot meal and a place to sleep. They accept and welcome all, including the unkempt and those that most of us steer clear of.
