I don’t understand what you wrote. I was not precise with my quote, I quoted it properly in my second comment. The substance is remains the same. As Jews, we are not beholden to marginalize facts, just because we don’t approve of their author.
RY – I like your first clause in the OP. I think I will try to use that in the future. It works well for Yom Kippur in particular – “it’s less than a year since Yom Kippur and you’re already speaking Loshon Hora?!”
I decided to look up the quote and found that it was never said by Aristotle, it is from Will Durant as a description of Aristotle’s philosophy. Apparently a retiring football player mistakenly thought it was Aristotle’s quote and mentioned it in his retirement speech and since then it has been attributed to Aristotle.
