June 6, 2011 2:58 am at 2:58 am #775287yankdownunderMembercsshapiro I have an original gift, give your friend a stick of Licorice Root, and some Licorice Tea Bags. Why Licorice, because Licorice is a known remedy to help stop Smoking. Put both in a box wrap it nicely, and attach a card to the gift. The card could say please put the stick in your mouth, or make a nice cup of Tea any time you have the urge to Smoke. The person will understand why you would give such a gift. Licorice Root is Kosher, because it is a Root not processed. The Tea needs a Heksher.

June 6, 2011 7:11 am at 7:11 am #775295shadshad898MemberGet them an electronic cigarette – cheaper, same experience, but without the ash or cigarette breath – and all they breath in is water vapor instead of tobacco – it’s like being in a steam room – so they don’t have the negative health effects of regular cigarettes
June 7, 2011 1:43 am at 1:43 am #775296Boro Park GirlMemberJust buy them anything you think they might like and attach a note sayi8ng what you think. (or tell them when you give it)
June 7, 2011 1:54 am at 1:54 am #775297good.jewMemberNow if Popa would just stop drinking….
June 7, 2011 1:55 am at 1:55 am #775298hudiParticipantshadshad – I think you are mistaken about electronic cigarettes. They do have negative health effects.
I think you can buy the person a nicotine patch so they can use it when they have a really bad craving.
June 7, 2011 1:57 am at 1:57 am #775299Midwest2ParticipantOomis – you’ve hit it perfectly. I smoked for twenty years, and I think I forgot what good food should taste like. Then I quit (for medical reasons) and suddenly – my taste buds woke up. (They’d been gassed into insensibililty). A gourmet meal at a really good restaurant – also a good motivation for staying quit, which is the hard part.

2)a gym membership, bec they will start gaining weight.
So it seems that for someone with a weight problem, it would be a good idea to start smoking, right?
June 7, 2011 4:36 am at 4:36 am #775302Midwest2ParticipantWalter – not necessarily. I didn’t. Some people do, but it’s not universal, and it’s usually not a lot.
