Does anyone know of an extreme right wing Rav named Rabbi Feivelson? What’s his first name? TIA

December 22, 2016 3:47 am at 3:47 am #1207430mw13Participantan extreme right wing Rav named Rabbi Feivelson
Methinks that answering a question posed like that may very well constitute loshon hara, or at least avak loshon hara.
December 22, 2016 1:09 pm at 1:09 pm #1207431Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantmw13, you may have a good point, but on the other hand, maybe it’s a maaleh to be extreme right wing. When I read the op, I actually assumed that she considered it a maaleh which is why she is looking for him.
December 22, 2016 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm #1207432Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLetakein girl – if you google Rabbi Feivelson, the first two entries refer to the same person. It looks like it may be the Rav you are referring to.
He sounds like someone very chashuve, talmid of Rav Aharon Kotler, zatsal, born in Radin and had some kind of connection to the Chofetz Chaim, zatsal, learned in Kollel Chazon Ish for many years, I think he might be a Rosh Yeshiva in Tzfast now.
Does that sound like the Rav you are looking for?

December 22, 2016 1:51 pm at 1:51 pm #1207434golferParticipantCan’t keep up with you LU.
LOL was to your 1st.
December 22, 2016 2:01 pm at 2:01 pm #1207435Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“Can’t keep up with you LU.
LOL was to your 1st.”
was wondering, but kind of figured that’s what you meant.
Joseph, I didn’t meant that in a bad way at all. I hope you weren’t offended. Until I saw mw13’s post, it hadn’t occurred to me that the op could be taken negatively.
December 22, 2016 2:58 pm at 2:58 pm #1207436JosephParticipantI’m always happy to be mistaken for a talmid of Rav Aharon.
December 22, 2016 4:29 pm at 4:29 pm #1207437Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantHe was a talmid of the Chazon Ish too. If that’s what being extreme right wing means, there are no LH issues here. His name is Rav Shmuel Avigdor Feivelson, Shlita. Is that who you were referring to?
December 22, 2016 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #1207438juststoppinginMemberLU. I just want to clear up that there are (at least) two R’ Shmuel Avigdor Feivelsons. One is a rosh yeshiva in Monsey and a talmud of R’ Aharon and one is a Rav in Tzfas. I believe they are related but two different people. The first google result I get is the Rav from Tzfas and the second from Matzav.com is the R”Y in Monsey.
December 22, 2016 10:09 pm at 10:09 pm #1207439Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantJuststoppingin – thanks for the clarification. I was confused about that – I was trying to figure out how someone could be have started a Kollel in Tzfas and be a Rav in Monsey. Since they both had the same first, middle AND last name, it didn’t occur to me that they could be different people, so I figured it had to be the same person, and since he’s over 80, he has had time to do a lot of things in his life!
I didn’t think of the fact that cousins can have identical names. That makes much more sense. Thanks for stopping in to clarify!
December 23, 2016 3:36 am at 3:36 am #1207440juststoppinginMemberLU, happy to help out. I was a talmid of Rabbi Feivelson from Monsey and I remember his cousin coming to visit so I knew that they were two different people.
December 23, 2016 4:49 am at 4:49 am #1207441Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantOh, I thought you figured it out from the fact that it’s unlikely that the same person is a Rosh Yeshiva in both Tzfas and Monsey and was a talmid of both the Chazon Ish, zatsal and Rav Aharon Kotler, zatsal.
Thanks for your honesty. I was feeling a bit dumb for not having figured that out – although it is pretty unusual for there to be two people who have the same 3 names and to both be chashuve Roshei Yeshivas.
January 4, 2017 4:18 am at 4:18 am #1207442Letakein GirlParticipantThank you so much for your help! 🙂
Really appreciate it.
January 4, 2017 4:27 am at 4:27 am #1207443Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLetakein Girl – so which Rav Feivelson were you talking about?
January 4, 2017 12:53 pm at 12:53 pm #1207444JosephParticipantThe one with the big beard.
January 4, 2017 2:07 pm at 2:07 pm #1207445golferParticipantThe one she met on the plane on the way to E”Y.
January 4, 2017 2:24 pm at 2:24 pm #1207446Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantIs that you, Joseph?
January 4, 2017 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1207447Pro JewsMember“extreme right wing rabbi” why does everything have to be extreme? just because hes very frum doesnt have to mean hes extreme.
January 4, 2017 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm #1207448MenoParticipant“just because hes very frum doesnt have to mean hes extreme.”
But maybe he is extreme.
January 4, 2017 11:59 pm at 11:59 pm #1207449Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantExtreme doesn’t have to be negative. If you say extreme by itself, it sounds negative, but when it’s attached to another word, it’s not necessarily meant that way. It might just mean “extremely right wing”.
