I read on the CDC website that boys are 3 times as likely as girls to be given medication for ADHD.
This is sickening. The psychiatrists are clearly withholding necessary medication from the girls.
Perhaps there should be a federal law that there has to be the same number of boys and girl patients taking medication, for each doctor. We can call the law Title 10 maybe, since I think 9 is already taken.

Psychiatrists are much worse than just simply sexist.
Maybe they figure that men have more money, so more prescriptions signed, the more money they make.

Psychiatrists see far more male patients with presenting symptoms of ADHD than female patients. Why? For several reasons. One – there are more boys with these issues than females. Two – referrals to psychiatrists are more common for boys than girls. Three – there are differences in reporting. There may be many other possible reasons. It is ridiculous to point to a statistic, consider it fact without having studies it, and then reaching conclusions from it. It might make interesting small talk, but nothing of true value.
147: Take your tongue out of your cheek. It looks stupid. Rav Avigdor Miller ZT”L is misquoted so often on this issue it is frightening. He made a single comment in a particular context. It is immoral to generalize it to anywhere else. Yes, some psychiatrists need help themselves. So do plumbers, accountants, roshei yeshivos, etc…

Given your experience, what do you think is the reason for the above differences?
And would you agree that there is a parallel, with girls more often diagnosed and medicated for mood disorders, while boys are more often diagnosed and treated for ADHD?
Psychiatry is a shady profession built on a series of theoretical assumptions that cannot be empirically vetted or validated. You cannot give someone a valid test to look into their subconscious. R’ Miller, ZT”L,was very shrewd about a lot of things, this being one of them.

How about: a cynical pothead who pretends like he’s not interested in the subject matter poasts about nothing useful?
Personally, I think wild brain masterman (the little I know) has valid points. The whole discrimination thing doesn’t apply that well to medicine because there are many medical differences between the physiology of the genders, not just the way they are treated.
Brony, can you do my post too? I’m not trying to be dismissive of your brilliant characterizations; I was trying to do the same to you.
