Dear CoffeeRoom,
I am looking for a program, which will enable me to DIY seforim publisher. the program must have Hebrew support, and be a program that will allow me to manipulate the page so I can have different size columns in different parts of the page.
for example, I would like to have the main text with a Pirush on the bottom and then a small column on the right or left side (depending on the page) with comments.
thank you.

because if its just formatting, it may be enough to use something like Microsoft Publisher. (although you would have to find something that flips the order of hte pages, but that shouldnt be too hard)
if you’re looking for something that prints also, I would suggest looking in Israel as that is where you would find decent Hebrew support

I am not looking to publish the safer my self but rather give it to a printer, pretty much print ready (ideally). I have most of the materiel in written format and I want to now transfer it from the a written format to a print format…
Is there anyone who can direct me in either word or publisher on accomplishing the format I desire?
again, any suggestions are welcomed. and thank you.

Word is great if you are doing straightforward, text and footnotes.
both are relativly user friendly and have plenty of tutorials online

does publisher have a option of making a book in it?
January 1, 2014 3:09 am at 3:09 am #996669sem613Participantwhat do you mean by the option of making a book? of making it look like a book or of them printing it for you?
or just that you can export it in something printable?
I’m really not sure because the right-to-left langauge thing may give you a bit of trouble
January 1, 2014 4:54 am at 4:54 am #996670SayIDidIt™ParticipantI highly doubt Publisher is what you are looking for. I mean, it does have a right to left option, but besides for that, I don’t think it’s made for professional books. It’s more for basic cards and letters. And I don’t see how you can manipulate text boxes to turn and grow and shrink (like in Gemara, Sulchan Aruch ect.)
I don’t know and it seems like noone on YW ever printed a Sefer [we are all too busy wasting our lives here …]
Try to find someone in your community or BM that published a Sefer and ask him.
Hatzlacha!!
