This week Hashem commands us to build Him a Mikdash. Torah milashon horaah. How can we implement this today?

Sefer Shmos gives us a path in Avodas Hashem. The beginning parshios were talking about preparations for matan Torah. At that time Ruchnius couldn’t infuse Gashmius with a permanent kedusha. (Like Yaakov Avinus throwaway tefillin.)

Then Yisro came – matan Torah, and with that the ability to affect Gashmius in a pnimius way.

Mishpatim followed- affecting the Gashmius of this world through doing practical mitzvos

Finally this week heralds the ultimate- turning even divrei rishus – mundane stuff, like eating, drinking sleeping into holy things. Just like by the Mishkan the actual 13 or 15 items used became kadosh themselves – that is the ultimate. We start out using and doing our mundane things for the sake of Hashem, lshem shomayim, as the Rambam says

But the ultimate is to reach bchol derachecha doeihu, that the mundane activity itself is an avoda. An example is the foods eaten on shabbos. We should infuse all our weekday activities with a similar kedusha as well.

I found this thought provoking and inspiring so I thought I’ll share.good Shabbos!

It says, create for me a temple so I should be able to rest within you. The Meforshim say that through the Mikdash, Hashem rests within the heart of each of us.

Lets first create the essential prerequisite of achdus among klal yisroel before we even begin worrying about the “practical” issues in building bayis shlishi. I’m sure moishiach will be bale to resolve the nuts and bolts issues of the construction project.
