Chas v’shalom! I have zero emunah in you. You’re the one who made up that Hashem is promising that I’ll win. Hashem never promised that to me.

If each of Joseph’s screen names buys a ticket with different numbers, what are the odds of one of them winning?

I didn’t buy a ticket, I never do. It is unethical to use precognitive abilities for such a purpose.

“It is unethical to use precognitive abilities for such a purpose.”

Why then would you give others the ability to win with your “precognitive abilities” by posting the numbers?. 🙂

    #1132252

Because I knew that no one would play the numbers I posted.

I won’t, for the same reason, post the numbers for Wednesday’s drawing ahead of time.

Maybe just tell us what the powerball number will be in order to convince us of your precognitive abilities.

Getting the powerball number correct, even with all the rest being incorrect, is worth $4. So he can’t do that.

Guys. U r all big believers in hashem? I don’t see that, ur saying if hashem promises me to win then why didnt I win, u know why,1- u don’t believe he wants to give it to u. 2- because he said reb yid not this time

They’re not saying that. They’re saying that Hashem did not promise that they would win, so it’s not a lack of emunah to assume they wouldn’t, any more than it is a lack of emunah to assume you won’t find a cupcake in your shoe or get struck by lightning on a Friday in May.

Talking about hishtadlus and emunah, I am still trying to confirm this but someone just told me that a Lubavitcher with a large family who works as a mashgiach at a Lakewood restaurant won the Mega’s 165 million. Can’t say for sure that its true, though. I guess we’ll find out soon enough.

@daasyochid: how do u know that he didnt promise u? And now ur saying that if hashem doesn’t promise me I’m not going to do any hishtadlis because hashem didnt promise. Not everything u get is from what hashem promised its hishtadlis what u do. Let me ask u do u work? If yes why? Hashem is going to help why do I have to do hishtadlis? And let me tell u one thing hashem does only the best things for each and every person so if u don’t win the lottery it’s for ur own good hashem has reasons for that. But it doesn’t mean that u don’t have to try. The same way u work same way u buy lottery

Yes, I’m a freelance horse groomer. I stand outside of BMG handing out business cards offering all the bochurim and yungerleit to groom their horses for a fee. For some reason, I don’t get any jobs, but I feel like I’ve done my hishtadlus.

The same way u work same way u buy lottery

There is a lottery Kiosk (Might be many, but I saw one) in Meah Sharim and it was manned by a charedi yid.

In the Rebbitzen Kanivesky book, it mentions they won some sort of lottery and used the money to buy a refridgerator

For some reason I find it embarrassing walking into a gas station wearing a kippa and buying a lottery ticket. Maybe Id be more open to doing it if I could buy one online.

But I still think the “down” feeling after you dont win might outweigh the “up” feeling people get after they initially buy the ticket.

Buying a ticket is a chisaron in emunah

If Hashem wants you to lose $2 he’ll find a way. dont worry

If you want to be a winner; buy a ticket and don’t check it after the drawing. But since you probably won, just conduct your life accordingly. No problem.

Sorry to interrupt everyone, but only one organization is benefitting from the lottery aside from the powerball themselves- Oorah is capitalizing on the hype and accepting pledges minimum of 1 million if you win the auction.

    Heard even rechnitz pledged!!!

There was once a man who bought a lottery ticket and didn’t win. He went to Rav Yisroel Salanter and complained, “How could it be that I didn’t win? I had complete Bitachon that Hashem would make me win.” Rav Yisrael told the man to buy another lottery ticket. The man did as Rav Yisrael Salanter said and bought a new lottery ticket. The day before the lottery was to be drawn, unbeknownst to the man, Rav Yisrael Salanter sent a person to try to buy the lottery ticket from him. The man refused to sell the ticket. The messenger said, “I will give you up to half the earnings of the lottery ticket (at that time around 5,000 rubles).” The man thought about it and agreed to sell the ticket for that value. When he demanded the money from the messenger, the messenger replied, “I won’t pay you now. I will use the money from winning the lottery to pay you for the ticket.” They had a disagreement, and as a result the man decided not to sell the ticket. The next day, the lottery was drawn. The man did not win the lottery, and quickly went back to Rav Yisrael Salanter. “How can it be that I didn’t win the lottery this time? I had complete bitachon!” Rav Yisrael Salanter replied, “A person with bitachon doesn’t sell a ticket worth 10,000 rubles for 5,000 rubles.”

ca – I was responding to cherrybim… as long as you don’t check your numbers, your ticket is a winning ticket and a losing ticket simultaneously.
