When multitasking or when focusing intently on something while performing a mundane action, our bodies sometimes do funny things on their own when our minds are preoccupied.
I was reading the latest posts in the CR, when I almost plugged my headphones into my hot cup of tea instead of into my mp3 player. 🙂
The other day I was thinking about something, and after pouring some water out of the hot water pot, I almost put the pot into the coffee pantry, instead of back on its heating base.
Feel free to share your silly slip-ups of mindless multitasking and general space-outness.
unwrapping a candy. throwing it out. proceeding to eat the paper. yuch.
Looooool! Did it bump into the cinnamon stick first?
writing while holding a banana, and taking a big bite outta the pen.
I do these multitask mistakes a LOT just gotta think of them now 🙂

lol I do such things all the time…can’t remember any of them offhand, though. 😛
I have a touchless hand soap dispenser at my kitchen sink i also have a dish soap dispenser that you have to pump the other day i put my sponge under the dish soap dispenser and i was waiting for it to work like the hand soap dispenser i guess you had to be there.
ohhh and if you’re eating a lollypop while decorating with markers, be careful which one you lick! Its hard to get green marker off your lips
Random non refrigeration required things have ended up in the fridge 😛
oh yaaa and esp when u start licking ur pen!! ahh embaraasing!! when u think its the lollipop ur holding in ur other hand..
I have been driving before and am very preoccupied and end up waiting for a stop sign to turn green for minutes.
MorahRach, I don’t want to give a whole mussar shmooze, but please be focused and careful when driving.

I do, don’t worry. I know of other people its happened to as well. Sometimes ill stop at a stop sign and be talking to my passenger or child and just think I’m at a light then when I realize I’m like ” oh..”
Saysme – lol! My 3 yr old son was caught with a marker in his mouth once, and his lollypop ‘coloring’ his picture.
But the funniest was when I went out to play a hockey game with some friends, after helping my wife clean the house. When I got out of the car to go to the gym, I realized I packed the broom instead of my hockey stick!
…and yes my hockey stick was in the broom closet back home. lol!
Ahhh MorahRach, that was you in front of me. And you didn’t even hear me honking!
baalHabooze- lol! Top story so far! What do you do when you show up for hockey with a broom? Curl? 🙂
i did another oops. Made myself a smoothie, put the yogurt in the pantry and when the cereal box didnt fit in the fridge, i realized why.
My children and wife have witnessed me (at various times) putting the cereal box and the phone book in the fridge.
If you’re looking for pure forgetfulness, I once pulled up to Toys-R-Us, dropped off my wife, parked the car, and went in. My wife looked at me and asked, “Where’s the baby?” I had completely forgotten that we had an infant in the car. Luckily, she was only in the car by herself for two minutes or so.
All the posters on this thread MUST be men because women can multitask…
Anyways, this guy came to hospital with two burned ears. “What happened” asked the doctor. He answered “my friend called me while I was ironing”. “But what about the second ear?”. “Well I had to call an ambulance!”
I’ve taken the M train instead of the F train when I’m concentrating on doing homework. Same for B and D.
I was on my cellphone walking and I just returned a rental car, so I was checking my pockets to make sure I didn’t leave anything. I could not find my phone in my pocket and started to get nervous that I left my phone in the car. It took a second or two to realize that I was actually using the phone and it was safely near my ear.
Did any of you fellows check for early onset of alzheimers?

Here’s an embarrassing one. It happened decades ago. I was 13 or 14 and I stayed up shavuos night in Lakewood Minyan. I was so tired I was like a zombie. During chazuras hashatz, I got up and went to the bathroom. When I came out, there was someone standing at the sink holding a full tepple of water kind of offering to pour on my hands. I was thinking how nice of him. He gave me a look like naah, and I shook my head like yaah,and he poured for me, (and then for all the kohanim waiting in line behind me.)
Ah truthsharer! That just happened to me a few motZei shabboses ago. I wanted to text my husband that I was leaving the apartment to pick him up and with my phone in hand I frantically searched everywhere for it, I even began to text him that I couldn’t find my phone and then I realized.. That I was an idiot!

A good couple of years back, phone rang as i was sitting down to supper. With my fork in hand, i picked up the receiver and said, Boruch Attah … I was so embarrassed and couldnt even apologize mid bracha. Since then, i dont pick up the phone during supper
Used my home phone to call my cell phone because I couldn’t find it. Heard my cell phone ring and ran like crazy to get it so I shouldn’t miss the call.
Called some one while multi-tasking, and by the time the person picked up I couldn’t remember who I was calling.
More than once I found my veg peeler in the garbage along with the veg I just peeled
lol. i don’t remember any other thread i laughed out loud so hard as this one.
curiousity: +1 for starting this one.
i guess there is always a silver lining even to embarassing moments, moments when you just want to bury yourself right then and there. just type it here in the cr and give someone a good laugh. thanks to everyone here, i really needed a laugh today as i am going through tough times, and your bravery for coming out and posting these funny stories are greatly appreciated.
I once dropped something onto the floor and it disappeared.
