Yeshivas are vital for our future to securely transmit the Nesora to future generations in Quantity and Quality.
Moreshes Kehilas Yaakov – it is an Inheritance of the Whole Community of Jacob. It is not for the lucky ones but for All Yisroel. It is understrood yeshivas struggle as public schools et full coverage from US taxes and yeshivas get rather little even for non Religous oritented studies. That said parents haveto pay thousands of dollars per child a year. It seems Free Lunch is Indeed Offered by the Board of Ed. It seems Quite a few schools charge $500 per child for catered lunch. It seems in my days yeshivas concentrated on studies and may have had ONE School trip a year. It should be understood during the summer we also went to camp for fun activities. Yet it seems many schools now have SEVERAL trips for each grade a year per child costing a total per child for such trips of about $250 on average. I do not recall schools Asking Parents if they can Pay or for a vote. So far this covers $750 extra costs per child. Are there OTHER items that can be CHEAPER or Not Really Needed? This needs to be taken into account so ALL PARENTS can afford And indeed cut school costs. Every Parent Please COPY And Share With Friends this note – It may Help make tuition More Affordable for More Families and Actually reduce school costs And ALso Not Spoil Our CHildren. Of course our children are precious royalty – but many parents may not have ROYAL WAGES.August 2, 2017 4:16 pm at 4:16 pm #1331010BenKParticipantNow for a Brooklyn frum yeshiva in Flatbush I am charged $650 for the lunches for one child.
I know for Public schools there is FREE lunch. How can we say every yeshiva is utilizing whatever aid IS available from the government to help frum parents carry the burden when for example there can be free lunch and we are charged $650 per child?!? The public school population is eating “horrible food”??? THey also seem healthier.
I dont understand??????????????August 2, 2017 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm #1331017MenoParticipantHow can we say every yeshiva is utilizing whatever aid IS available from the government to help frum parents carry the burden when for example there can be free lunch and we are charged $650 per child?!?

The public school population is eating “horrible food”??? THey also seem healthier.

I dont understand??????????????

August 2, 2017 6:06 pm at 6:06 pm #1331056BenKParticipantMeno – There should be available to qualifying financially distressed families FREE lunches in school from the Board of Ed – to Yeshivas also! But instead some charge ALL parents for CATERED FOOD. If the claim is board of ed food is BAD – does that mean the public schools give Bad food to most NYC kids????(I dont think so)

August 2, 2017 7:28 pm at 7:28 pm #1331117thinkingclearlyParticipantUmmm. You should switch your kids schools. My kids go on one or no trips a year at a max of 20 dollars.
August 2, 2017 7:35 pm at 7:35 pm #1331124MenoParticipantI’m still not following. Is your tayna on the yeshivas or the board of ed?
August 2, 2017 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #1331129thinkingclearlyParticipantMost yeshivas don’t have a kitchen and the legalities of getting catered foods from the govt are more than you can ever imagine. You can make lunches for your kids like I do for mine.
August 3, 2017 10:03 am at 10:03 am #1331391BenKParticipantMeno If the baord of ed GIVES FREE LUNCHES to financially strapped families in schools that qualify and the particular school Chooses instead to charge all parents for catered food – who do YOU blame???????
August 3, 2017 10:12 am at 10:12 am #1331388BenKParticipantthinkingclearly – it would not be an avayrah if you mentioned which school(s) you senf your kids to. PLEEASE let us all know what wonderful place this is
August 3, 2017 11:00 am at 11:00 am #1331430BenKParticipantRebYidd23 I am not sure of your background. Not everyone has wealthy parents or can have both parents working. In my case I am the only breadwinner and work a complete full day and try some part time as well. Do yu know why when somneone was found dead near a city the city elders needed to say their hands did not shed this blood?! BECAUSE THE COMMUNITY IS RESPONSABLE FOR ALL ITS MEMBERS – PARTICULARLY those that cant afford it. At the same time I must say there are many Great Very Praiseworthy fine YIdden who are very kind and helpful to so may. I hope one day I may be zoche to be a little as kind as they are. One fot eh great hallmarks of the Jewish community is our deep caring for each other. Mi KiAmcha Yisroel.
August 3, 2017 5:03 pm at 5:03 pm #1331987lowerourtuition11210ParticipantMy son attends a yeshiva that has it’s own kitchen and charges for lunches (I think it’s $400/year). They do not opt into the Government programs because they do not have a way to audit the papers that the parents have to complete to make sure that the parents are actually filling out the papers truthfully. So we have the choice of paying the ~$2 – $3 a day or preparing our son’s lunch. we chose the latter.
