I think its crazy how everyone runs to get pizza the minute yom tov is over. And people bid on the first pie, and it goes for so much. people are mamash chazeirim!

If you think it’s so terrible, why did you do it? (You wrote “everyone” which obviously includes you.)

Because nobody wants to eat matzah once there is no mitzva for it. So people run to get the first chametz thing that they can, and it’s usually pizza.

You know, you really should give some thought before you accuse everyone of doing something and calling them “mamesh chazeirim.”

Not “everyone” does it and not everyone who enjoys a slice of pizza is “mamish” a “chazir.”

I used to get pizza on Motzei Pesach. After packing away all the Pesach dishes and unpacking all the regular ones, I was tired and hungry. I didn’t want to cook anything, so I got food that is inexpensive and easy to find – pizza!

This year I made Pesach for the first time since I moved into my own house (meaning the house I own, as opposed to renting), and I discovered that the pizza store in my area does not open on motzei Pesach, by order of the main Rav in the area (who also supervises the hechsher on it), so I could not get pizza when I had finished getting my home turned back around.

I’m so glad you don’t think my kids and I are mamish chazeirim 🙂 .

I found that a fresh pie is a good incentive to turn the kitchen back over quickly.

It wasn’t pizza I wanted to eat; it was rice!

all star – you wrote “This year especially I had pizza at 1:00am on moitze yom tov. I couldnt resist. Maybe next year I’ll wait longer.”

For all we know you ran out the send you did havdalah but waited in line until 1am. So is it the bidding you are against? whst if the proceeds went to tsedakah?

I’m puzzled why the main Rav in the

area who also supervises the hechsher on the pizza would not want the pizza store open on motzei pesach. Can anyone supply possible reasons?

we got pizza today for lunch instead and it was fully baked! unlike other years when we got at night and it was slightly-or more!-doughy.

And you obviously lived to tell the tale… How bad was it?

    SG, welcome back!

Pizza shops have been caught, more than once, starting to work before the zman.

    DY,

And the shops that manage to produce a ready pie 15 minutes after the zman, also started to work before the zman. They were just lucky enough not to get caught…

Sharp, that’s precisely why the Queens Vaad has its policy, and undoubtedly why the rav hamachshir of the pizzeria in DaMoshe’s area wouldn’t allow it to open.

    I bought pizza after midnight.

I don’t believe what I’m seeing, some people in Klal Yisroel don’t eat pizza on Motzei Pesach?! What happened to “Minhag Yisroel Torah”?! Do these people also just skip putting on tefilin or not eat in a sukka on sukkos?!

Because nobody wants to eat matzah once there is no mitzva for it.

BTW there already is no Mitzwah to consume Matzoh once the Seder is over, so I hope that once the Mitzwah to consume Matzoh was over, that you Yserbius123 were able to hold off another week before obtaining your pizza.

No, I don’t do it, because I am already saving my money for the best quality steak at the moment of Chatzos on Ov 10th.

A chiyuv to eat matzah after the seder, no.

    A mitzvah, yes.

I learned that it’s a mitzvah d’rabonnim to eat Pizza motzei Pesach and to make the brocha ” Al achilas pizza”. I understand that there are some that don’t accept this mitzvah upon themselves.

The Chizkuni (Shemot 12:18) says thatalthough there is no obligation to eat matza the entire week of Pesach, one who does eat matza fulfills a mitzva by doing so. He explains that when it comes to most mitzvot, one not only merits reward for observing them, but also deserves punishment if he is negligent and fails to fulfill them. However, some mitzvot (such as eating matza after the first night of Pesach) do not entail any punishments but do bring reward to those who opt to fulfill them.

It is well known that the Gaon of Vilna maintained that eating matza all Pesach is an optional mitzva. It is related (Ma’aseh Rav 175) that he accorded immense value to this mitzva. In fact, he would make a point of eating se’uda shelishit on the last day of Pesach (although he did not usually eat se’uda shelishit on Yom Tov), in order to fulfill the mitzva of eating matza in its waning moments before it expired.

I ate matzah every day of Pesach in accordance with this view, and at around 5:30 on the 8th day of Pesach, had a small meal of matza.

Like going to a Mikva on Erev YK is a Mitzwah, but no Aveiro if don’t get to a Mikva on Erev YK.

I think most people eat pizza motzei yom tov because its convenient and cheap. Packing up after Pesach is quite a feat and Pizza is a quick and easy food . Yes, there are those few people who NEED there pizza – but I have yet to meet one, have you?

On “Rumpelnacht,” I went to Pomegranate for some hot bagels (which I had with cream cheese left over from Pesach).

Pizza King, Mendelsohn’s, Mendel’s, JII, Chadash, Pizza Time all had lines out the door.

147- I suppose your point is correct; strictly, there is no chiyyuv to go to the mikvah before Yom Kippur for a man, but it is a mitzvah to do so.

It is described in the ShA as a minhag. Kitzur 131:6 says it is a mitzvah, not a chovah. And I heard in a shiur from R’ Rakeffet that Rav Soloveitchik did not go to the mikvah Erev Yom Kippur.

Aruch haShulchan says “nahagu kol yisrael.”

In any case, it is a minhag, not a chovah.
