You remind me of a call from a collection agency claiming they bought an old debt of mine.
When I told them that they had the correct last name but wrong first name they wanted to know
1. My full name,
2. Social Security Number,
3. Date of Birth,
4. Mothers Maiden Name….
This was standard procedure to see if any of the information matches.
they make others win lotteries or they make it as if you won the lottery after you steal their identities? 🙂
Ha! I’ll just send it to my long lost third cousin millionaire that just died and wants to give me all of his money.
so 4 years ago i got an email from a Nigerian prince who wanted to give me 2 million dollars to store in my account because he was on the run and didn’t want his assets seized. i was promised a cut after he collected it and all i had to do was provide some personal and banking information. unfortunately i was unable to assist him.
the scam is by now so well known that theyve stopped trying. however i got a very funny similar email 2 weeks ago 😀

its actually funny, i stumbled on this old thread looking through my files and it brought to mind that in restaraunt depot they had (dont know if they still do) gumball machines with missing person info and displayed prominently was the name, date of birth, and social security number
