If you could do whatever you wanted to without any consequence legal or halacha,
What would you like to do to someone’s car when it’s parked in two spacesSeptember 24, 2019 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #1789326GoldilocksParticipantIf I could do whatever I wanted to without any consequences whatsoever…
I would be the one parked in two spaces.September 24, 2019 7:06 pm at 7:06 pm #1789335lowerourtuition11210ParticipantNothing. Since it is possible that a smartcar was parked in the other spot prior to this car being there, the driver did nothing wrong.
September 24, 2019 7:08 pm at 7:08 pm #1789358☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantMove it up or back so I could park.

September 24, 2019 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #1789404chashParticipantwell without replying to your obvious misunderstanding of the nature of halacha, i wiould just say this. there has been many a time when i encountered that and was extremely frustrated, and some times ven had the opportunity to ask the people doig so to please ‘rearrange’… yet i have come to realize that there are so many different LEGITIMATE reasons why there was an emergency or obstacle that warrants it, as with everything in life, you just never know.
September 24, 2019 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm #1789406klugeryidParticipantI’m waiting for an out of Towner to respond
Huh??
What does that mean, two spaces?
And why would you want to do anything?
Just park next to themSeptember 25, 2019 8:20 am at 8:20 am #1789498motchah11ParticipantI was once blocked on the sidewalk by someone who managed to take up all three spaces. I couldn’t understand him until I saw that he had parked crossways and blocked three parking spaces on a busy erev Pesach. My mind was boggled and I am still taken aback.
September 25, 2019 10:47 am at 10:47 am #1789503klugeryidParticipantI know that guy
He owns hundreds of cars
And once he parks , its there for a week at leastSeptember 25, 2019 11:48 am at 11:48 am #1789575☕️coffee addictParticipant“I’m waiting for an out of Towner to respond

Just park next to them“When I used to live in Miami I took my driving exam and they don’t test for parallel parking, when I came to New York I hated it
But really ooters would understand street parking
September 25, 2019 1:08 pm at 1:08 pm #1789596iacisrmmaParticipantHow big is the car? a 21 passenger van could take up two spots.
September 25, 2019 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #1789705jdf007ParticipantWhy is this limited to parallel parking? You can park in two spots in any parking lot too. You know how long it takes anyone on the male side of my family to find an acceptable parking space?!
September 25, 2019 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #1789715klugeryidParticipantThen it’s only one spot for him
September 25, 2019 6:34 pm at 6:34 pm #1789717motchah11ParticipantNo, he parked sideways, right in the middle of one spot. so he stuck out onto one spot behind him and another spot in front of him.
September 26, 2019 11:06 am at 11:06 am #1789840MenoParticipantI was once blocked on the sidewalk by someone who managed to take up all three spaces
Why were you parked on the sidewalk?
September 26, 2019 2:43 pm at 2:43 pm #1789988Toras MosheParticipant“Why were you parked on the sidewalk?”
I think Motcha was a pedestrian.
September 26, 2019 3:33 pm at 3:33 pm #1790005motchah11ParticipantFirst he blocked me as I was trying to walk on the sidewalk. Then I turned around and saw how he was parked. His car blocked three parking spots.
October 6, 2019 12:56 pm at 12:56 pm #1791471catch yourselfParticipantHonestly, as much as I find it highly inconsiderate to park in multiple spots, it has never occurred to me to “do anything to their car.” If I could, I would move it over so that I (or someone else) could park in one of the spots.
As far as the point that was made that “you never know what’s going on with the other guy,” this logic works for an extraordinary situation. Unfortunately, I see the same cars parked in an inconsiderate manner very often. I do not believe that these people have “emergencies” or the like every time I see their car taking up two spots when I’m trying to get to night Seder.
דן לכף זכות does not mean that we should assume that the owner of the vehicle is secretly also a field medic performing emergency surgery in some undisclosed location. It just means that we should assume he doesn’t do it deliberately to bother other people, he perhaps doesn’t even realize that he did it, and if someone would tell him about it he would be more careful in the future.
October 16, 2019 8:56 am at 8:56 am #1793005hujuParticipantAnd the award for best comment goes to … drum roll … Goldilocks.
October 16, 2019 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm #1793014heshyEmesParticipantIt’s nice to say that it was inadvertant; but ask anyone why they do it; and most will be honest & say; “oh, I dont like cars tapping me, and anyhow that space was really meant for 1 car” (true, when cars were twice the length in the 50’s, 60’s & part of the 70’s)! Selfish lowlifes.
October 16, 2019 1:23 pm at 1:23 pm #1793186YaapchikParticipantSomeone on my block in BP does it regularly! It is the epitope of selfishness. He cares only about himself and whatever is easy and comfortable for himself. He does it with impunity and ignores everything anyone ever says to him. In fact he smiles and says, “I just wasn’t thinking!” Sadly it brings out the worst in us neighbors.
October 16, 2019 9:56 pm at 9:56 pm #1793214GadolhadorahParticipantWe can bring down a mashol from chazal where in a similar inyan it was decided to split the item in half and donate the front end to Kids for Cars and the back end to a local rehab program for those suffering from parking rage.
