Before airplanes were invented, did people make paper airplanes?
They had to make it from parchment.
Fascinating question there, btw.
Only paper boats, I guess.
But then origami is lolder than airplanes, so probably just about everything but airplanes. What’s the fun if it can’t fly though?
They probably did, but they called it something else. Maybe they called it “flying paper”
Maybe the guy who invented the airplane got the idea from paper airplanes. Maybe the original airplane was a paper one.

Apparently, airplanes were invented as a result of and modeled after paper airplanes. It’s still not clear to me what they were called though.
According to Wikipedia, the original paper airplanes were invented in China around 500 BCE

Thinking of the question was much more brilliant. I was just making a joke, which coincidentally turned out to be true.

I never heard of paper football before, but it couldn’t possibly have been called football before football was invented, since it has nothing to do with feet (the way you described it), as opposed to paper airplanes that do fly in the air.
Also, since I never heard of paper footballs before, I am guessing that they may be a newish invention?
They usually crash-land, paper boats are better constructed
If you tie a thin sting to the back of a paper plane, you could tie on a banner and your plane could advertise a message!
