I am looking for a stroller for a newborn and I would love people’s opinions.
I know people are into the whole Bugaboo thing but I do not have a thousand bucks to spend on a stroller. I heard Jeep, Peg perego, maclaren…I dont know….
Some people say the best way to do it is craigslist but I am scared of used stuff…
I know I like the three wheels better than the four. Do you have an opinion?

So i researched a lot of them before buying. So it depends on what your needs are. Will you mostly be busy walking around the neighborhood doing your errands or are you in suburbia, driving to get groceries.
Do you live in the artic or in Canada where you get a ton of snow and still have to manuveur a carriage daily.
If you want my opinion, I
d say Inglesina pram is the best if you want to turn heads. And mia moda from ebay for $60 is practical if you just want to get on the city bus with something that
ll do.Maclaren is best middle of the road choice, but not great for tundra snowfalls.
Something like a pram from INglesina or Peg Perego or Queen Bee is good for snow cause of the wheels.
I suggest looking on ebay as they have very reduced cheap strollers which are new. By the way I wonder why you like 3 wheels better than 4.

IMO city mini’s are real easy to push-even if its a twin stroller. but they are in the 500 range. for real infants in infant seats it might be worth it to get one of the snap n go systems where the infant seat snaps into a base in the car and has a stroller frame. those are great for in and out shopping. and one last thing-what ever you get, try to get s/t (easily) washable 🙂
Hatzlacha!
October 18, 2011 1:49 am at 1:49 am #818188happiestMemberI hear that the citi mini is a great stroller. Prices vary depending on whether you want this years model or last. The difference in the models is probably a stitch of thread sewn onto the seat or something, meaning nothing major at all!
Gluck!

October 18, 2011 4:36 am at 4:36 am #818192mommamia22Participantbeware the citi mini. I had a slightly better/bigger one from the same company and it tipped constantly (backwards!) anytime I put bags in the handles. It’s an easy fold and great for walking and pushing, but in my opinion, too dangerous.
Maclarens are very convenient, however, I had a quest which becomes harder to push with a toddler (it’s a lightweight umbrella stroller). I also had the most expensive maclaren, that went up to 65 lbs (I think) and had handles that extended. It is not 3 wheels, though (I think they have a three wheel model). The handlebars became sticky and kind of melted over time. I didn’t want to touch the handlebars after a while. Maybe now the newer versions are better. The lock broke off, making a folding stroller very long and cumbersome to carry.
Personally, I’d go for the bugaboo bee. It is small, less money than the bigger models, comes with a cacoon for the baby. When I went shopping, that was the stroller the sales people said they would personally choose. You might be able to find one online second hand. You can try a frum magazine classifieds. Don’t be so afraid of craigslist. We bought an amazing set of dining room chairs from west elm (second hand) for half price in NEW condition from a couple in a very good neighborhood. You can get pretty good deals there, if you keep looking.

October 18, 2011 3:38 pm at 3:38 pm #818194dvorakMemberCity mini- it’s not $500 as a previous poster suggested, it’s only $250. It’s a smooth ride and it folds very easily. It can be used for newborn through toddler. The biggest problem is that it doesn’t have much storage capacity, so I have to limit myself to small shopping trips.
October 18, 2011 8:57 pm at 8:57 pm #818195happiestMemberYou can always get one of those huge clips (don’t know what theyre called) that holds a bunch of bags. I see everyone walking around with them attached to their carriages and they look really useful. You probably can get them in any store really but in the 5towns you can get it in Variety on Central Ave.
