Don’t you think we should define “package” before making such a sweeping statement? One could argue that my closed tallis bag is a “package,” in which case, you’ve just condemned me to death for taking my tallis out of my bag this morning.

There is a difference between food wrappings and stam wrappings.
These factors may play a result in whether it is permitted or prohibited:
Is the package mail?
Is the package for a toy?
Is the package for food?
Is the package for utensils?
Is there wording that is being broken when opening the package?

That would be difficult if the packaging had lettering on it.

???? and ???? would still be problems. (Depending on whether or not the thing is considered a ??? in the before opening…)
If you receive a toy in the mail on Shabbos, you can open it assuming you won’t break any wording (lettering)?
