A major Jewish organization that collects dues from many Orthodox shuls bearing its label recently tried to shut down a struggling upstate shul because the organization claimed the shul owed them dues (but threatening the shul for having a woman president). Yet this same organization has turned a blind eye to shuls with Women’s Prayer Groups and a branch with an excommunicated rabbi. Why? Is it because of the flow of money from the shuls with the Womens’ Minyanot and excommunicated rabbi? This organization under its previous leadership used to lend money to its struggling branches to build Yiddishkeit. This one instead tries to shut down shuls that are not to its financial benefit.
The financial records of this and other major Jewish organizations should be published so that people can see exactly how their tzedokoh money is being spent. The salaries, perks and loans made to their executive officers should also be detailed.
