Although few will read this
and little to no comments
that’s not why I came to write
I’ve been here for a few years
although I haven’t made a mark it appears
I think I still I have right to still write this
You know I think people take way too seriously
the comments, drashas, and idiocy
of some of the people around here
I must admit it’s really been getting to me
Although I’m not sure whats flying honestly
cuz I’m more of a daily sightseer
But I do see of the threads
where people leave, complain, and bang their head
and although I’m no one of much social standing at all
I feel there’s so much sinas chinum
Why all the drama? It makes me glum
To see what the CR has become
If you just tried to tolerate and love
everyone, cuz were all children of the one above
even if it seems were different and we clash
A change only begins with you
Whoever reads this, listen you can do
much much much more than you think

Most of the comments are within of what come before.
you’re a johnny come lately
Secondly, you may have thin skin
who is to say it’s sinas chinum, maybe it is “tolerate and love?!
On the contrary, the Gemara says not giving reproof when it is called for is Sinas chinum
Thirdly,
Psalm 97:10

The coffee room is a diversion and amusement for me. I like to read differing opinions, minhagim, etc. from a wide spectrum of ‘observant’ Jews.
I take none of it very seriously, but the regulars in this group are a support system as well as online friends. When Mrs. CTL was on life support in a coma this spring and early summer it was reassuring to know that Jews of all stripes who I have never met were praying for her well being and offering me moral support. No one cared if I daven Ashkenaz, Nusah HaAri, wore a kipah srugah or a sthreimel. I was just another Jew who needed emotional support and it was forthcoming despite my being a Liberal Democrat.

and if you ask me how can they both be right? Then your right to.
August 31, 2016 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #1176632HaLeiViParticipantTo yourself you might sound like a Baal Mussar. To me you sound condescending. The same goes for all other militant Ahavas Chinomers.
August 31, 2016 6:44 pm at 6:44 pm #1176633absanParticipantHaleiVi ..you hit the hammer on it’s nail. It all boils to you and yourself. It depends how you respect yourself. Every post can be read with a nasty tone (especially if your in that mood) or it can be read in a soft tone . Even if the words are sometimes not appropiate if you read it in a soft tone it sounds so much different. Besides if someone does the spiting don’t be fooled in picking it up. Just go ahead and be your nice self. were all human we are entitled for mistakes. Let’s not be sensetive to whom we don’t even know (might as well be your brother)or act like kids pointing the finger at each others..lets have fun and be helpful for each others.

August 31, 2016 7:13 pm at 7:13 pm #1176635Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantAbsan, as you yourself wrote, you can choose how to read someone’s words. Read HaLeiVi’s post carefully. He has a very good point. (disclaimer: I wouldn’t have necessarily phrased it that way, and I am not giving a “haskama” to the post. BUT if someone thinks that you can choose how to read someone’s post, this is a good place to start, since there is a good point there if you choose to read it the right way, as you pointed out.).
I think his point is that sometimes when people speak out for “ahavas chinom”, they are actually doing the opposite. It may be unintentional, but it is something to be aware of so that one can try to avoid it.
August 31, 2016 7:36 pm at 7:36 pm #1176636Mashiach AgentMemberThe Sinas chinam today in klal Yisroel is worse then it I Was in the time of the destruction of the 2nd Bais Hamikdosh destroyed because of it. So how can we expect Mashiach to come before returning to Ahavas chinam
May it happen very soon
The problem with giving reproof today is that no one listens to you BECAUSE EVERYONE THINKS THEIR WAY OF LIFE IS THE CORRECT WAY AND THE REST OF THE WORLD IS WRONG SO DONT GIVE ME MUSSAR….
September 1, 2016 1:15 am at 1:15 am #1176637HaLeiViParticipantI have only a vague memory of the time of the Churban, but it was pretty bad.
Actually, the Gemara is somewhat surprising when it says that they were Tzadikim. We know that there were numerous factions, many of whom were real Apikorsim. Seemingly, they don’t matter.
