Has anyone seen my colleague Dr. Pepper around here as of late?
June 27, 2011 3:15 am at 3:15 am #786774WolfishMusingsParticipantHas anybody here, seen my old friend John
Can you tell me where he’s gone?
He freed a lot of people
but it seems the good, they die young.
I just looked around, and he’s gone.

So now we know you’re not Marvin Gaye.
June 27, 2011 3:25 am at 3:25 am #786776aries2756ParticipantWow, wolf, Abraham, Martin and John? Haven’t thought about that for years and years.

Yeah, well, I know it’s the 2010s, but a large chunk of the music I listen to is from the 1940s to 1960s.

June 27, 2011 3:29 am at 3:29 am #786778always hereParticipantnot Marvin Gaye!
“”Abraham, Martin and John” is a 1968 song written by Dick Holler and first recorded by Dion.”

Uh…that would be Dion, I believe.
June 27, 2011 3:35 am at 3:35 am #786780☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOops! So now you know that I don’t really know the song (I guess Google failed me this time).
I still think he’s not Marvin Gaye.
June 27, 2011 3:42 am at 3:42 am #786781☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantOomis, according to an online encyclopedia, always here is correct. It seems that Marvin Gaye was one of several who did a cover on it (which I guess is why on the first site that I found, songmeanings.net, it was implied that he wrote it).
June 27, 2011 4:08 am at 4:08 am #786782WolfishMusingsParticipantnot Marvin Gaye.
Not Marvin Gaye?? Darn! I thought I heard it through the grapevine…

June 27, 2011 10:27 am at 10:27 am #786783Mother in IsraelMemberI thought this thread was going to be about online MDs. Some of the kupat cholims offer such a service for after hours. You have to have a webcam though so the doctor can see the patient.

July 12, 2011 9:26 pm at 9:26 pm #786785Dr. PepperParticipantHey Doc,
We missed you at the department meeting today. Is everything OK?
July 13, 2011 1:19 am at 1:19 am #786786minyan galMemberTo the OP: A friend of mine had to go to the ER the other day and she said this tall thin man walked and said “Hello, my name is Dr. Seuss.” She noticed his name tag was spelled Suss, but it was pronounced just like yours. She said that she was going to say something about his name, but figured that there is probably nothing that he hasn’t heard about it before. She said that she had a lot of difficulty not laughing and on concentrating on what he was telling her. I was repeating this story to a physician friend and she told me that in this city there is a Dr. Death. She said that he pronounces it “Deeth”, but…..the spelling is the same. Apparently he originally wanted to be an oncologist but with his surname, decided to choose another specialty. So, to the Docs Seuss and Pepper – you are in good company.
July 15, 2011 7:51 pm at 7:51 pm #786787Dr. SeussMemberDoc,
As you know I am still putting the final touches on my magnum opus that I’ve given you the honor of writing an introduction to. Of course you will be listed as the co-author.
Since you are doing double-duty in the office in my absence, I will of course give you two extra paid vacation days plus time and half while I’m out.

So he changed it to Kevorkian in order that people could pronounce it more easily????/
July 17, 2011 5:03 pm at 5:03 pm #786789EnglishmanMemberDr. Pepper works for Dr. Seuss?
July 17, 2011 5:28 pm at 5:28 pm #786790minyan galMember600 kilo: Dr. Kevorkian recently died. I wonder if someone else “helped” him in his “time of need”.
July 18, 2011 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm #786791Dr. PepperParticipantEnglishman-
