DeBlasio and the new speaker want to add three more school holidays to the calendar the Asian holiday Lunar New Year and the Muslim holidays Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha, this would make a total of 17 school days off for holidays. Now it is all well and good to respect different cultures and it is certainly nice that Jewish teachers and students will be off for Jewish holidays but 17 days is just nuts.
How many days a year are your Jewish children off from school due to holidays? Surely more than 17.
Yes, they miss more than 17 days, and their calander is about 20 days longer.
So they’re uneducated now because in the future they might have fewer school days?
The law in New York is there has to be at least 180 days of School a year (I think thats the number) if they add 3 more vacation days they are legally required to add 3 days to the calender
