When I was young one of the things that intrigued me in the shtiebels i grew up with was the custom of sniffing snuff… i dont want to go into the health questions involved (unlike smoking there is no damage to the lungs)…i would only like to ask if anyone knows if it is permitted on Passover? Thanks

I found this on a website:
The custom amongst many nowadays is to refrain from all smoking of tobacco on Pesach unless it has a hechsher.

March 20, 2013 9:29 pm at 9:29 pm #939108Rav TuvParticipantWhat chometz is in tobacco. IIRC the reason people refrain from smoking is because of the chometz glue on the filter/paper. But I could be totally wrong.

You can smell chometz. But snuff is considered consumption, so if there were anything chometz about it then we’d have a legitimate shailah. Unfortunately, the world wasn’t created in a way that validates this shailah.

says even if you bake Matza and Chametz in the same oven (not touching each other), as long as one is wrapped, even though the Matzah aquired taste from the Chametz’s aroma, You can eat the Matzah on Pesach.
Skype- “It’s forbidden to derive any pleasure from chometz on Pesach” – this only applies if it belongs to you. The Svarah (logic) of Achshivei that you mentioned, only applies when the item belongs to you- to transgress on ‘owning Chametz’. (Maharam Shick’s P’sak (judgement) is relevent today regarding make-up, and the like)
This way, if you are walking down the aisle of a shopping mall, and pass by a man wearing very strong Chametzdik’e cologne, and you happen to LOVE cologne, you have no problem on Pesach.
squeak- thanx

and nobody else.
