Which is a better value?
August 28, 2012 3:15 pm at 3:15 pm #940597artchillParticipantOdyssey is better value overall. More space for passenger and packages as well as a smoother drive.
The only benefit of Grand Caravan is the repairs on Dodge/Chrysler are cheaper. The downside is, you’ll be spending so much on the numerous repairs it’s a slow bleed.

Honda gives you $1500 towards cosmetic repairs at lease end.
The Caravan has more toys to play with.
Both are good, and I’ve had both. Between the 2, if I had to choose now, I’d take the Caravan.

Odyssey is a more refined vehicle with a smoother engine and tranmission.
Dodge/Chrysler is cheaper $$$ and drives that way too.

If I had to choose, I’d choose the Odyssey engine but the caravan body. I’m not a fan of the new Odyssey. I prefer the looks of the previous model or even the one before that (pre2012 or pre2004)

Honda Odyssey versus Dodge Grand Caravan
Comfort
Passengers in the backseat will be able to stretch out a lot more in the Honda Odyssey than in the Dodge Grand Caravan, due to its greater head- and legroom. The Dodge Grand Caravan offers just a little more front head- and legroom than the Honda Odyssey, making it a little more comfortable for the driver and front passenger.
Convenience
The Honda Odyssey requires fewer stops at the gas station than the Dodge Grand Caravan, making it more convenient to drive.
Cost
There are a lot of factors to consider when calculating the overall cost of a vehicle. The main consideration is Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). Clearly, the Dodge Grand Caravan is a better financial choice over the Honda Odyssey, when considering MSRP. Another consideration is the Destination Charge, which is a standard charge for transporting the vehicle to the dealer from where it’s built. The Destination Charge for the Dodge Grand Caravan is much higher than that for the Honda Odyssey.
Dimensions
The Dodge Grand Caravan is about the same width as the Honda Odyssey. When looking at overall length, the Dodge Grand Caravan takes up about the same amount of space in your garage as the Honda Odyssey.
Drivetrain
With somewhat higher torque, the Dodge Grand Caravan transmits power to its wheels a bit more effectively than the Honda Odyssey.
Handling
The Dodge Grand Caravan has a larger turning radius than the Honda Odyssey, making it slightly more difficult to maneuver in and out of tight spots.
Performance
If you’ve got something you need to pull, the Dodge Grand Caravan will do just as well as the Honda Odyssey, since they have about the same towing capacity. The Dodge Grand Caravan has a little more horsepower than the Honda Odyssey.
Utility
The Dodge Grand Caravan has less seating than the Honda Odyssey, making the Honda Odyssey the better choice, if you need to chauffeur many passengers. You’ll be able to fit about the same amount of groceries in the Dodge Grand Caravan as you will in the Honda Odyssey.
Warranty
The Dodge Grand Caravan comes with essentially the same basic warranty as the Honda Odyssey.
