Victory Popa!
Today will forever be known as Victory Popa day. Today, I vanquished my enemies and I “got em back”.
I have been walking or taking public transportation to where I go every day, because everyone said there is no parking so you can’t drive.
Well, I noticed that some blocks have permit parking, not meter parking. And I have the stupid permit, because I live within the city. So I drove today, and found a stupid parking spot on the first block. Blazes!
Now granted, it was a Popa sized spot, so that only Popa could get his car in. But I did.
???? ???!
October 26, 2011 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm #821909Sam2ParticipantWouldn’t a popa-sized spot be absolutely massive?
October 26, 2011 1:07 pm at 1:07 pm #821910sheinMemberNow what kind of hick town has resident permit parking?
October 26, 2011 1:23 pm at 1:23 pm #821912mosheemes2MemberGuessing Chicago seems much too easy.
October 26, 2011 2:12 pm at 2:12 pm #821913A Heimishe MomParticipantAnd you will now gain 10 pounds for the lack of excercise!
October 26, 2011 2:24 pm at 2:24 pm #821914BaalHaboozeParticipantA good Yom Tov to you, popa! May this Holiday serve to be a source of power, resilience, and courage to us all. What you did today was like something out of a fairytale!! Surely the Heavens are smiling down upon you today! You continue to inspire us and are a real source of joy. You make us all SO proud!
October 26, 2011 6:56 pm at 6:56 pm #821915minyan galMemberI completely agree with BaalHabooze. We are so proud of you and you didn’t even have to learn a Haftorah to become so “honored”. From this day forth and edict shall say that “henceforth on each ensuing October 26 (or 28 Tishrei, if you wish) an online celebration shall be held in CR at precisely 8:00 PM (EDT)”. In fact, should you choose 28 Tishrei as your celebratory day, if it falls on a Monday or Thursday, we may even take out a second Torah in your honor. What an achievement!! I am kvelling.
October 26, 2011 7:41 pm at 7:41 pm #821916charlie brownMemberi’m glad you were able to fit into that spot even after the yontiff babka! Mazel Tov on finding that stupid spot. May you be zoche to only find smart spots in the future.
October 26, 2011 7:51 pm at 7:51 pm #821917TheGoqParticipantOh i thought this was going to be about Joe Biden.
October 26, 2011 8:10 pm at 8:10 pm #821918popa_bar_abbaParticipantThank you for the well-wishes everyone.
I look forward to not sharing many more parking spots with anyone.
October 26, 2011 8:47 pm at 8:47 pm #821919charlie brownMemberGoq,
are you saying that Popa is really Joe Biden?
October 27, 2011 3:22 am at 3:22 am #821920minyan galMemberPopa, I have been thinking about your good fortune all day. I think (and I believe that many would agree with me) that in honor of this auspicious occasion it would only be fitting and proper that you should sponsor the kiddush this Shabbas at your shul.
October 27, 2011 3:27 am at 3:27 am #821921popa_bar_abbaParticipanthmmm. not a bad idea. I just sponsored a kiddush a few months ago. I told them it was in honor of “whoever donates the coffee”. Because I don’t know who it is, but I like it.
Well, VP Day is almost over for this year.
October 27, 2011 2:36 pm at 2:36 pm #821922ItcheSrulikMemberIs that why we didn’t say tachanun?
October 27, 2011 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm #821923TheGoqParticipantNot at all Charlie i think Popa is much smarter.
October 27, 2011 3:57 pm at 3:57 pm #821924charlie brownMemberGoq, I have to agree on that one. Funnier too.
popa, the VP Day kiddush needs to be here in the CR, not in your shul.
October 27, 2011 4:06 pm at 4:06 pm #821925TheGoqParticipantI read an op-ed piece yesterday that suggests the possibility that Biden and Hilary Clinton will switch jobs.
October 27, 2011 4:07 pm at 4:07 pm #821926popa_bar_abbaParticipantIf the kiddush is here, how will we drink?
October 27, 2011 4:32 pm at 4:32 pm #821927charlie brownMemberIf the kiddush is here, how will we drink
Dunno. I thought the great Popa can make anything happen, including sharing drinks thru the CR.
October 27, 2011 10:39 pm at 10:39 pm #821928charlie brownMemberbtw popa, did you get a parking spot today or did your enemies celebrate their victory day today? If the latter, can one skip tachanun on both days or is it tartei d’sasrei?
October 28, 2011 12:50 am at 12:50 am #821929popa_bar_abbaParticipantI got a parking spot today, and it was a big one.
??? ??? ????? ??? ???? ????? ??? ?? ???????? ?? ????? ???????
October 28, 2011 1:14 am at 1:14 am #821930minyan galMembercharlie brown – why can’t we drink if the kiddush is in the CR? Is there some law that I don’t know about regarding drinking and typing? To date, I have never been charged with a DWT.
October 28, 2011 2:49 pm at 2:49 pm #821931charlie brownMemberminyan gal,
because you haven’t been charged yet doesn’t mean you should push your luck. Be careful!
popa,
was it a smart one or a stupid one like the first day. Also, I hope you made a chazaka by getting a spot today again for the third straight day.
October 28, 2011 3:28 pm at 3:28 pm #821932popa_bar_abbaParticipantIt was a smart spot the second time.
I’m not going today. I’m actually out of town for the weekend.
October 28, 2011 3:54 pm at 3:54 pm #821933charlie brownMemberwhich starbucks are you in today? The “where in the worls is Popa” game continues…
October 28, 2011 3:59 pm at 3:59 pm #821934YW Moderator-80Memberjothar?
October 28, 2011 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #821935charlie brownMemberPopa is different! Everyone knows that at least 90% of what he writes is not true – he has admitted this himself. Jothar, do you agree that he can be an exception?
October 28, 2011 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm #821936popa_bar_abbaParticipantI am actually back in chicago.
Gumball: I’d like to draw a distinction here. I am an adult, and most of my information is googleable anyway. There is really nothing anybody here could do to harm me if they found out everything about me.
October 28, 2011 4:09 pm at 4:09 pm #821937charlie brownMemberas I think about it, maybe mod80 is right though to question this. If adults do this type of stuff, kids may not understand the distinction and copy. hmmm…
October 28, 2011 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm #821938YW Moderator-80Membernaaah
October 28, 2011 4:12 pm at 4:12 pm #821939popa_bar_abbaParticipantyes, charliebrown is correct. I will try to stop the silly games.
October 28, 2011 4:12 pm at 4:12 pm #821940charlie brownMember80, being that you and popa are one and the same, you are not impartial to this.
October 28, 2011 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #821941charlie brownMemberyes, charliebrown is correct. I will try to stop the silly games.
wow, the first serious post by popa in history! But please don’t make a habit of it.
October 28, 2011 5:05 pm at 5:05 pm #8219422scentsParticipantwell the fact that what Pops (-80) posts is not true is really questionable and might also be not true!
October 28, 2011 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #821943charlie brownMember2scents,
someone tried that on popa and he won that argument(although he didn’t declare a yom tov for that victory)
Had he said he always lies then you’d be right but he said he usually lies – if that statement is true its not a contradiction because he said he usually lies but occasionally tells the truth.
October 28, 2011 5:35 pm at 5:35 pm #821944popa_bar_abbaParticipantSecond.
There was this: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/in-honor-or-tisha-bav-what-you-respect-about
And I did teshuva for it (in time for yom kippur) here: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/in-honor-of-yom-kippur-by-popa
October 28, 2011 5:47 pm at 5:47 pm #821945charlie brownMemberyou cleaned your slate with teshuva so that one is as if it never happened. I therefore stand by what I said that this was the first in history.
oops, there was a typo in my previous post. I said Yom Tov but meant yontiff.
