I really don’t want to scare anyone.

But I’m really wondering if anyone of you feel the same way I do? We have all recently heard and continue hearing and reading how anti antisemitism has risen in NYC. Now, I’m not old, but I have to admit I’v lived through enough in my life time to remember plenty of scary times here in Brooklyn or abroad. And I lived and grew up with many people who lived through the hell of the holocaust. But we will all admit living it is much scarier.

I’m wondering how many of you have felt personally or know someone that is a victim in any shape or form?

I’m sure that living in probably one of the most populated Jewish communities and definitely cities in the world most likely might of kept me away from most of this abuse most of the time in my life. Even though I do have to admit that growing up in the 70’s 80’s it was plenty scary to walk through or even drive through certain blocks and neighborhoods. Even with your windows rolled up in broad daylight.

I know Eisov Sona L’Yakov, And I know their were always people that hated us. But in the last few years, and I don’t mean the last few. I mean, since probably the late 90’s most people in NYC no matter what color, race religion etc. I felt that we got along. Or at least maybe openly people didn’t show hate that much. Maybe it had to to with 9/11 not sure. No mater where I went in the city and it is still much so. People respect each other.

But on the other hand. And this is the reason of my post and original question.

    The reason I’m asking is.

In the passed three months I was verbally yelled at three times in the same 1 1/2 mile radius just a few blocks away from where I live in the opposite direction of our neighborhood.

On a nice summer early morning I was walking on the sidewalk and a guy coming from the other direction starts talking very loud. When will you guys stop killing innocent babies and children. Just give them their land back. I was just to shocked. I didn’t answer, I walked even faster then I already did. I just looked back to see if he is not turning back to hurt me. And kept on going.

#2 On another morning, waiting for a light to turn green. Suddenly I hear someone yell “Heil Hitler” I first ignored, but this already touched a nerve in me. And tried to take a picture of the guys truck with my phone but its a little blurry. He wasn’t to close. And I wanted to keep on moving.

#3 Last week, I was driving when I stopped at the light. A guy in an suv pulls up beside, I happened to have my window rolled down and he yells you guys like to take over the whole road. Your driving all over the place. I told him, Sir that lane is for left turns so I moved to the right. He kept on mumbling about you guys. As soon as the light changed he cut in front of me and made a right turn.

I’m telling you, I’m not assuming things. And this all started after Israel attacked Gaza after the three boys were killed.

And you know what? all three guys that yelled at me where WHITE.

I guess Freedom of speech is the pride of this Country.

Honestly, Do these incidents need to be reported?

@Lior I’m sorry, First I was contemplating if I should reply to your post or not. And I decided I will.

I do not accept your post as a reply to mine. And I’ll explain why.

“Because” I sadly don’t need anyone welcoming me to golus. And I don’t want to speak for anyone else but I don’t think anyone needs it either. Sadly we all live plenty in golus. Some feel it more and some less. Some remember it more and some less, and some even more. My question wasn’t why it’s happening, my question is if anyone else had a personnel situation where they felt that some one verbally attacked in the street more now than in recent years?

And your 1000% correct we are in Golus.

OTT: It’s not illegal. They have the same freedom of expression that you do. The same laws that allow you to be Frum allow them to criticize you for it. If you ever feel threatened, always call the non-emergency police line (or 911 if it seems like they are actually about to do physical harm) immediately.
