NON CORONA TOPIC: Why would anyone voted Biden?
Is it only because of Trumps supposed chesronos (deficiencies) ??such as (according to twisted liberal ideology) not being politically correct and trying to protect the US from Mexican gangsters??
or IS THERE SOMETHING IN BIDEN SPECIFICALLY WHICH PEOPLE LIKE?
All I see is his extremely poor communication and dementia
September 24, 2020 5:11 pm at 5:11 pm #1904393Yserbius123ParticipantRead the recent “Open Letter” from Rabbi Avi Shafran (spokesperson of the Agudah) co-signed by several Rabbonim. There’s no mitzva to vote for Trump. And to think that he’s so much better than Biden because of his position on Israel is misguided at best, and a dangerous precedent at worst.
I have no interest in voting a Red menuval or a Blue shoteh as President. However, I can see that people like Biden’s opinions on publicly funded programs that can help many Yeshivos and yungerleit who rely on the government for their healthcare and basic welfare. Very similar to Trump’s position when he ran for president in 2000.
September 24, 2020 5:12 pm at 5:12 pm #1904406takahmamashParticipantPlease define “dementia” and show how it applies specifically to Mr. Biden. Please use actual documented examples.

1) PROTECTING AMERICANS AND RECOVERING FROM THE COVID-19

2) BUILDING A STRONGER, FAIRER ECONOMY
3) ACHIEVING UNIVERSAL, AFFORDABLE, QUALITY HEALTH CARE
4) PROTECTING COMMUNITIES AND BUILDING TRUST BY REFORMING OUR

5) HEALING THE SOUL OF AMERICAYou can read the details in the Democratic party platform.
FYI: most Americans do not see what you see.
September 24, 2020 6:55 pm at 6:55 pm #1904424akupermaParticipantIf you have a large family, and receive many entitlements (food stamps, medicare or medicaid or a CHIP program, housing assistance), unless you run a business, you are probably better off economically under the Democrats. If you aren’t a fanatic zionist, Biden is no worse than any other Democrats in terms of aiding Israel (though he won’t support “transfer”). While Biden supports or tolerates many very morally dubious policies, most Yidden have historically assumed the goyim are amoral and don’t see that as very shocking. More frum Jews (unlike our non-observant cousins) are fairly poor and benefit from the Democrats largesse (and taxing and spending are what Democrats do best).

September 25, 2020 12:21 pm at 12:21 pm #1904612👑RebYidd23ParticipantIf we had a truly fair and democratic election system, almost nobody would vote for Biden. Unfortunately, we have a system in which Biden doesn’t have to be a decent candidate, he just has to be better than Trump.
September 25, 2020 12:31 pm at 12:31 pm #1904632n0mesorahParticipantBiden unseated a well known incumbent in the U.S. Senate, before he turned thirty. Evidently, there is reason to vote for him besides for his long track record.
There is not any real concerns with a Joe Biden Presidency. Even if you disagree with some of his policies. If you do not want to vote for Trump, there is no “well, at least he is not Biden argument”. If you are voting for Trump, can you give some real reasons based on real life?
Trump himself cannot. Not because there aren’t any- rather it is just the type of person he is. I can make a solid pitch to vote for Trump. Can you?
September 25, 2020 12:38 pm at 12:38 pm #1904635n0mesorahParticipantDear Reb Yid,
Biden was a leading candidate for president three separate times. And, he won the primary elections over multiple candidates. Can you list more worthy politicians currently serving in Congress?
September 25, 2020 12:52 pm at 12:52 pm #1904650DovidBTParticipantIf you are voting for Trump, can you give some real reasons based on real life?
His predecessor, Obama, spent eight years doing his best to flush America down the toilet. If Clinton had won the 2016 election, she would have continued doing the same. If Biden wins the 2020 election, he will do the same.
President Trump has done an excellent job of undoing his predecessor’s misguided and disastrous policies. He was the right man for the job, and the right man to spend another four years doing the job.
September 25, 2020 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm #1904666besalelParticipantAkuperma: I respectfully disagree with your analysis from a tax/welfare perspective for the following reasons:
1) Child tax credit – Under prior administrations, the child tax credit was $1k per child. Under Trump it became $2k. Under the prior administration, the credit began to dissipate at an income of $150k. Under Trump it dissipates at $400k. We all know that frum families can use the child tax credit not only because of the size of frum families but also because frum families are generally at a much higher income than the general population. The direct savings to the frum world is tremendous and quite frankly the savings trickle on to the mosdos. A frum person with 7 kids and an income of $200k is putting an actual $14,000 directly into his own pocket because of Trump.
2) Assistance: while government assistance is helpful, it is much more vital to people without a community structure. BH we have each and other and Satmar. We believe in chessed. We believe is Tzedaka. We take care of our own.
So while there certainly will be many frum Jews who did not benefit from the Trump structure, when taken as as a whole, Trump’s tax plan fits much better with the frum community.
September 25, 2020 1:54 pm at 1:54 pm #1904669emetemetParticipantI believe in the US democracy and that Trump is a dangerous threat to it’s foundation
September 25, 2020 2:30 pm at 2:30 pm #1904688n0mesorahParticipantDear Dovid,
Thanks for responding! But that is not a real answer. It is a generic one. The same could be said about any person, in any government position.
By the way, my biggest peeve with Trump is that he expanded on Obama’s overuse of executive powers. He campaigned for smaller government, and we got another oversized administration.
September 25, 2020 3:17 pm at 3:17 pm #1904699Reb EliezerParticipantIt is worth reading the suggested Open Letter above from Rav Shafran of the Aguda and others on his website.

and regarding money, all middle income people-which is majority of the orthodox community have been benefiting from greatest tax cuts our generation has seen.September 30, 2020 12:09 am at 12:09 am #1905612Decency is KeyParticipantSome people believe strongly in social justice and because of their good intentions they are willing to look past issues within the ideology. There are also those who know little about politics and really believe that Trump is comparable to Hitler ymsh. They think it’s their duty to vote him out and save the world. Finally, there are people who believe in Marxist ideologies and think that it would be ideal. Those people are willing to sacrifice freedom, truth, and justice, to pave the way for the implementation of those ideals.
Some people have good intentions, such as the first mentioned group, others not so much. Ultimately, those who support Biden have an entire different life view, which to them, makes their position justified and good.
Personally, the values with which I was raised dictate that I hold other beliefs.
September 30, 2020 12:19 am at 12:19 am #1905626charliehallParticipant“Trump is comparable to Hitler ymsh.”
Just tonight, Trump refused to condemn white supremacists and told one such group to “stand by”. Previously he had endorsed a neo-Nazi in a congressional primary.
“the values with which I was raised dictate that I hold other beliefs”
The values that any Jew holds dictate that Trump is wrong and must be stopped. Unless the Jew has turned his back on Jewish values.
September 30, 2020 4:58 am at 4:58 am #1905630Decency is KeyParticipantNo, Trump isn’t Hitler ymsh, he has denounced white supremacy and isn’t pushing for discrimination against any group.
I’m involved in leftist spaces, and can confidently say that they are some of the worst anti semites. People will call themselves activists and then ignore when Jews are attacked for their beliefs. We are lucky that some larger communities face little anti semitism on a daily basis, but many individuals in America are threatened just for their existence. I can say that I have RARELY faced any form of hatred from conservatives, although there’s plenty of it on the far right.
It’s also obvious that some of the politicians in the Democratic party are blatantly anti semitic and hold values that would destroy the ability for people to live freely in this country.
I do research from multiple sources which hold drastically different viewpoints before I determine which aspects of a report are true. If I hear that a political figure does something of concern I sift through reports from both sides of the aisle and based on the commonalities, I can determine which aspects are factual and which are biased twists of the action. Maybe you should try that.
September 30, 2020 10:31 am at 10:31 am #1905719hujuParticipantWe should all keep in mind that voting in the US gives us only 2 choices. This means one votes for the less bad candidate, not necessarily the ideal candidate, as ideal candidates do not make it to the finals.
September 30, 2020 10:32 am at 10:32 am #1905752Tachles1ParticipantTrump REFUSED to denounce white supremacy last night, and as charlie pointed out he even told one extremist group to standby.
September 30, 2020 11:20 am at 11:20 am #1905777Decency is KeyParticipantAlso, it would be prudent of us all to evaluate a person’s actions as a whole. Trump doesn’t seem to be anti-Semitic, or to hate a particular group at all. He’s been in office long enough that we would’ve found him out.
September 30, 2020 1:13 pm at 1:13 pm #1905774Decency is KeyParticipantHuju makes a good point in that neither choice would be ideal and we need to choose the candidate which follows policies which best suit this countries interest.
In response to Tachles1, you HEAR that these people are white supremacists, but over the past few years people have been labeled whatever the left wants them labeled. Reading a CNN headline doesn’t qualify as research. This group is more closely aligned with isolationist and constitutional views. Within the group there may be anti-semites, but they aren’t white supremacists as a whole.
Additionally, the left will call this same group anti-Semitic for its preferences of putting the American budget and safety above Israel, then the Left will go and say “I’m not anti-Semitic, I’m anti-Zionist” and “I only hate Israelis, not Jews”. Think for yourselves.
September 30, 2020 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm #1905786besalelParticipantlets be fair. trump was asked to denounce white supremacy and he did. he then instructed proud boys to stand down and standby. perhaps like me, trump does not view the proud boys as a white supremacy organization.
my takeaway from last night: trump was a bully and reminded me why i dislike his personality and hope and pray none of my children look up to him as a role model. at times, i felt bad for biden who just looked like an old man being bullied. as biden spoken i learned that he is really not a very articulate person and i also began to fear putting this recovery into his hands. even more than the fear i have of trusting biden with the recovery, i began to yearn for a recovery in the hand of a trump presidency, whose strength projected poorly in general but well in when it came to the economy. I also saw trump speak enough about liberal causes, like justice reform, that assuaged my overall left-leaning politics. i began to see a vote for biden as taking a huge risk economically, in order to further liberal agendas I believe in. Sof davar, the decision on my vote, which is ultimately based on hakarat hatov, did not change.

It increased by 5.2 Trillion since Trump took office. By neglecting the virus more than 20 million people are on unemployment and how many businesses went bankrupt? Deficit over 3 Trillion this year.

We know Trump isn’t a mentch but he’s gotten the job done and from the only ones that see things clearly regarding the virus. Biden sees it like this. Close the economy, people are dying from the virus.
Trumps sees it like this. People are dying from the virus. If we leave the country totally closed more people will lose their entire businesses bringing them into clinical depression. Drug and alcohol addiction will go up. Children won’t function properly. So Trump says, we must make a balance. People at risk should properly protect themselves. Otherwise life must resume. Wear masks when neccessary. Yes you may get the virus. But it’s not a deadly illness for the vast majority.
So sad that people are fooled by Biden and the Liberal left. And Law enforcement. Basically Biden wants to dismantle Law enforcement. He wants to social services involved instead. What a clown. And people so sadly fall for that.
No wonder why our cities were torn apart by the riots and Deblasio and his cronies just stood bye.
