What are those posters all around Brooklyn advertising a NEW Uncle Moishy sound and website? Is he no longer working with Suki and Ding?
September 18, 2017 12:00 pm at 12:00 pm #1366252yitzykParticipantMaybe it means the same guy, but a new sound – perhaps his voice changed? The posters are very uninformative. I can’t tell if it is a new album, a concert, or whatever?
I also noticed that on the posters his beard is white!!
September 18, 2017 2:56 pm at 2:56 pm #1366342yitzykParticipantMystery solved, thanks to Google.
“The phone rang one day and I was asked by one of Uncle Moishy’s sons to create a new cartoon mascot character of Uncle Moishy. ”
From there on it was taken over by a ‘Marketing Company’ so basically it is the same singer (with a white beard) we all know and loved, with some over-the-top rebranding. “New” refers to his new CD and his new Avatar.
September 18, 2017 3:20 pm at 3:20 pm #1366345🐵 ⌨ GamanitParticipantPer the new website he seems to be produced by “Sonic Duo” now, not Suki and Ding. The new mascot looks cute and reflects his current look much more (he’s been gray for quite some time now but the drawings never showed that)

December 17, 2017 11:23 am at 11:23 am #1428472YidkidMemberI know the coffee room drips from sarcasm sometimes, but does anyone have a clue why suddenly there are two different “Uncle Moshe” concerts – at the same time – the same day – by two different people????
I kid you not.
One is the regular good old jolly fellow that many kids grew up listening to, and the other is a young guy – also wearing a “Mem” on his hat.
Any input folks?
December 17, 2017 11:48 am at 11:48 am #1428476JosephParticipantMust be a marketing gimmick.
December 17, 2017 12:19 pm at 12:19 pm #1428486JosephParticipantTotally speculating, but this might be Uncle Moshe’s way of introducing a successor before his retirement. By pretending there’s a “competing” Uncle Moshe (which can’t be the case due to trademark law), thus stirring up interest in the whole Uncle Moshe business, while at the same time getting people acquainted with next generation of UM.
December 17, 2017 12:19 pm at 12:19 pm #1428489👑RebYidd23ParticipantWhat ever could have made you think the people here can be sarcastic?
December 17, 2017 12:57 pm at 12:57 pm #1428725Takes2-2tangoParticipantHow can u trade mark an “uncle moishy”
Practically every family has at least one uncle moishy.
Are you saying my uncle moishy can not have his own concert with out infringing on a copywrite?December 17, 2017 1:15 pm at 1:15 pm #1428728JosephParticipantBtw, does everyone remember Uncle Yossi and his storytelling?
December 17, 2017 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm #1428730iacisrmmaParticipantJoseph: Suki and Ding split up and the “original” Uncle Moishy split from them. From what I understand either Suki or Ding holds the rights to the Uncle Moishy “name” and therefore they can market a “new” Uncle Moishy that is not related to the original “Uncle Moishy”.
December 17, 2017 1:16 pm at 1:16 pm #1428736takahmamashParticipantWhen Uncle Moishy first became popular, there were two – one did the recordings, the other did the live gigs.
December 17, 2017 1:52 pm at 1:52 pm #1428891☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantSuki and Ding split up
The poster for the new Uncle Moishy’s concerts say it’s a Suki and Ding prodution. Although, I’m not sure how much Suki, who lives in Eretz Yisroel, has had to do with concert production.
December 17, 2017 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm #1429042yitzchokmParticipantThe original UM (Rabbi T) split up with S&D.
They are arguing about ownership
December 17, 2017 9:06 pm at 9:06 pm #1429064Jersey JewParticipantSuki and Ding have NOT split.
What makes sense is that Uncle Moishy probably had a contract that expired and he wanted to take control of the franchise.
The “Uncle Moishy” franchise so to speak, is trademarked, either by S&D or by the original Uncle Moishy and that is the underlying issue.
So why S&D had to come out with a new Uncle Moishy instead is calling him something else like Fred is beyond me. Unless the guy’s real name is Moshe, in which case they get a pass.
December 17, 2017 9:07 pm at 9:07 pm #1429065Jersey JewParticipantTwo competing Uncle Moishy characters is no good.
NO ONE WILL WIN!!!
Uncle Moishy AND the kids are the major loosers in this one.

“Practically every family has at least one uncle moishy.

Mrs. Stewart certainly isn’t the only Martha Stewart out there. Do you think the other Martha Stewart’s can publish cookbooks, magazines and a line of clothing under her name?
December 17, 2017 10:54 pm at 10:54 pm #1429078JosephParticipant“So why S&D had to come out with a new Uncle Moishy instead is calling him something else like Fred is beyond me. Unless the guy’s real name is Moshe, in which case they get a pass.”
Uncle Fred or Uncle Chaim doesn’t have the goodwill and name recognition by kids and their parents that the name Uncle Moishy has.
Whatever the artist’s real first name is, is not that important. He can choose to use a pen name or trade name when acting, that’s different than his personal name. Many do exactly that with great success.
A businessman who does business even under his full personal name can sell the rights to the name or business and then he no longer has the right to sell that service under his name. If Charles Schwab sells his brokerage firm, he cannot start a new brokerage firm under his name — since the new owners of Charles Schwab have the rights to the name and trademark.
These are all generic points; I have no idea what happened with the ownership or rights to the Uncle Moishy name and business. (And it is a business and trademark.)
December 18, 2017 1:24 am at 1:24 am #1429075JosephParticipantWhat’s so inherently bad for kids if they have two Uncle Moishy’s? Nothing that I can fathom.

Yes! He’s a relative of mine and I grew up with his animation videos. Love that they sell them as books now. My daughter loves them!
December 19, 2017 8:30 am at 8:30 am #1429910chabadgalParticipantThis is what I understood happened- Uncle koishy is restarting seperate from suki and ding, he’s using completely new songs and everything except for some really old ones cuz they own the rights to everything. Suki and ding got a new uncle moishy to replace him.
December 19, 2017 11:02 am at 11:02 am #1430016Geordie613ParticipantIf you can have two Satmar rebbes, two Bobover Rebbes, Hey dum diddly dum, why can’t you have two Uncle Moishy’s?
The original Uncle Moishy has parted with Suki & Ding. He is actually Uncle Moishy. So he’s gone with Sonic Duo. But Suki & Ding own the name Uncle Moishy, so they’ve created their own new Uncle Moishy complete with black hat with big Mem.
The Mitzva men and cousin Nachum are all fighting amongst each other now. Some are Sukoinim, others are Duoinim. It’s all very sad. Big Gedalia Goomber hasn’t decided yet what he’s doing.December 19, 2017 11:59 am at 11:59 am #1430078JosephParticipantIf S&D own the naming rights to Uncle Moishy, then the original artist who played UM, even if his first name is Moishy, would have no legal rights to use the UM name.
December 19, 2017 12:00 pm at 12:00 pm #1430072👑RebYidd23ParticipantShow me the trademark.
December 19, 2017 12:43 pm at 12:43 pm #1430110JosephParticipantIf there’s no trademark, then every Chaim, Yankel and Moishy can start their own Uncle Moishy concert.
December 19, 2017 12:43 pm at 12:43 pm #1430105Yserbius123ParticipantFYI: I believe that the “Uncle Moishy” from the first album was a different guy than the current one who did all the rest.
Hands in the air if he took your elementary school picture too, with boys posing with the hands crossed on the right arm of a chair.

along the lines of “the uncle you know and love.”April 5, 2018 4:02 pm at 4:02 pm #1503244spilledcoffeeParticipantmy friend, whos brothers uncle’ wife’ brother married uncle moishys son, told me that Uncle Moishy is planning on retiring but Suki and Ding wanted him to sign a contract for another 20 years. He said he wants to stop so S&D got a new guy. Than real UM decided he wants to still sing o so he got sonic duo (a few of his friends who know a little about music) to do his songs.
