FWD: QUEENS: JUST IN – Askunim sign contract with Arthur Ashe Stadium near Citi Field; Capacity of 22,000 to accommodate more people at Internet Asifa.
May 16, 2012 10:17 pm at 10:17 pm #875365livelovelaughMemberHow does that accomodate more people? Isnt that smaller than citifield?
May 16, 2012 10:47 pm at 10:47 pm #875366AlexParticipantOf course it smaller than citifield, it is just an additional venue for have tickets (or will be able to buy tickets now) to go to an additional venue near the actual Asifa and sit there, the question is will there just be a hookup there, or will they have speakers there also, so everyplace there is a hookup or is hookuped to citifield will see it on the screen.
May 16, 2012 11:19 pm at 11:19 pm #875367livelovelaughMemberahh never mind. I understand its in addition to citi field.
May 16, 2012 11:29 pm at 11:29 pm #875368tzaddiqMembernot INSTEAD of Citifield, in ADDITION to Citifield
May 16, 2012 11:42 pm at 11:42 pm #875369zahavasdadParticipantNow tell my Women could not have been invited. The Subway and Roosevelt Ave makes a great Mechitza
May 17, 2012 12:18 am at 12:18 am #875370147ParticipantWill one of the locations recite Tachnun? whilst the other location recite Hallel for Yom Yerusholayim?
May 17, 2012 12:47 am at 12:47 am #875371WolfishMusingsParticipantNot that I’m saying you’re wrong, but I find it odd that this hasn’t been reported on the main YWN page (or any of the other Jewish news sites) yet.

May 17, 2012 12:58 am at 12:58 am #875372zahavasdadParticipantIt was reported on VIN
May 17, 2012 1:12 am at 1:12 am #875373laytzonay hador omrimParticipantNow they can have nusach sfard & nusach ashkenaz for maariv.
May 17, 2012 3:11 am at 3:11 am #875374YW Moderator-42ModeratorThe main YWN site seems to be ignoring asifa news as far as I can tell.
There still isn’t enough room for women, they expect to fill all 66,000 seats with men. If this had been planned better they could have gotten Met Life Stadium like the siyum hashas. And they could have filled 80,000+ seats with men and had women in one of the adjacent stadiums.
147, Will you stop your Yom Yerushalayim comments already. This is taking place at night, Erev Rosh Chodesh where we will say Tiflas haShla. Everyone is free to celebrate Yom Yerushalayim all day until mincha at 6:30 at Citi Field / Arthur Ashe. Whether there will be tachanun at that mincha is another question…
May 17, 2012 3:15 am at 3:15 am #875375WolfishMusingsParticipantIt was reported on VIN
Well, if it was, it’s not there now. Nor is it on any of the other major Jewish news sites.
In addition, googling “arthur ashe” and internet and limiting the result to the last 24 hours yields only one hit — this thread.
In other words, I’ll believe it when I see it somewhere else besides here.

Not at all. Merely possibly mistaken. It’s also possible that I’m mistaken.

May 17, 2012 3:51 am at 3:51 am #875378YW Moderator-42ModeratorThere is a hotline – 732-551-3351. Press 6 and then 1.
For the record, I just did a Google search and found other sites that mentioned the new venue. It’s not on VIN or any of the other “major” Jewish news sites but it’s on smaller sites and blogs.
May 17, 2012 6:33 am at 6:33 am #875379Shticky GuyParticipantA new location with an aditional 22,000 seats? (Maybe put the ????? in there). This is so unfair to the poor enterprising dude who put 2 tickets at Citi Field up for sale on ebay…
May 18, 2012 2:52 am at 2:52 am #875381YW Moderator-42ModeratorDon’t worry Shticky, it sounds like the new location is pretty much sold out too. I’m sure there are those who want to pay extra to daven maariv with 20,000 more people. B’rov am hadras melech.
May 18, 2012 1:31 pm at 1:31 pm #875382ItcheSrulikMemberSo these people deliberately oversell the tickets. They brag about it in the papers. And they are supposed to teach us about ehrlichkeit and morality? The loan shark on my block has better business ethics.
May 18, 2012 4:23 pm at 4:23 pm #875383NaysbergMemberItche, They only sold tickets with an actual seat assignment. Anything else was sold at the other venue (also with a specific assignment.) Nothing was oversold.
May 20, 2012 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm #875384shmoelMemberIs Arthur Ashe going to have live speakers that will be simulcast to Citi Field and vice versa? Or is Arthur Ashe just going to be a live feed with no onsite programming?
Also, what time does the program begin?
