Can anyone predict how this will end?
I am referring to the story in the news of a ‘former’ Netura Karta guy that lives in Antwerp and is sending his boys to an all girls school because the regular boy schools will not accept his children.
I mean, will they sing along with the girls?
Will they go for sewing classes?
January 7, 2013 4:48 pm at 4:48 pm #928782KovodHabriyosMemberHe quit the NK. Why are they still not allowing him to send his boys to the only boys yeshiva?
January 7, 2013 4:54 pm at 4:54 pm #928783zahavasdadParticipantIn Belgium he government pays for Yeshiva tutitons. If vouchers ever became the law in the US similar things would happen
January 7, 2013 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #928784MDGParticipantJust because he quit NK does not make him mainstream.
Besides he said that he never joined NK, but he protested along side them. He has not recanted his views, just made them less public and will not join hands with Jew haters.
January 7, 2013 5:13 pm at 5:13 pm #9287852scentsParticipanti think that reason is because NK is not a club, it is a belief to which no one wants to be associated.
Therefore although he quit and is no longer an active member, he still might be a lunatic.
I wonder if he tried satmar, and if they also refused him entry.
January 7, 2013 5:24 pm at 5:24 pm #928786MDGParticipantBTW, on VIN today there is an article that says that he is going to sue the boys’ schools because they discriminate against his girls.
See what Ferd posted below.
January 7, 2013 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm #928787KovodHabriyosMemberHow can a yiddish school punish his CHILDREN for whatever his problems are??? His CHILDREN are INNOCENT. You can’t force yiddishe kinder to go to public school!! The boys yeshivas rejected his boys. (And from what I understand he has completely recanted his previous views about the NK.)
January 7, 2013 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm #928788FerdParticipantThe sons of former Neturei Karta member Rabbi Moshe Aryeh Friedman were registered today at the all-girls school Benoth Jerusalem in Antwerp.
Friedman has said he sees himself as a role model for co-ed instruction in the religious schools, and that by registering his sons at an all-girls yeshiva, he has finally put an end to discrimination and segregation between boys and girls in Hasidic Jewish schools.
A siruv was issued in New York last week warning Orthodox Jews around the world to avoid interacting with Friedman in any way. It has allegedly been posted in 35 synagogues in Antwerp.
Friedman, meanwhile, has now sued an all-boys yeshiva in Antwerp for denying admission to his daughters. The court case has been postponed until January 17.
January 7, 2013 5:33 pm at 5:33 pm #928789MDGParticipantKovodHabriyos (Joseph’s latest SN) said:
“And from what I understand he has completely recanted his previous views about the NK.”
Nope !
January 7, 2013 5:39 pm at 5:39 pm #928790akupermaParticipantIt’s a clever legal strategy. For political reasons, none of the frum schools will let him in (or rather, will let his kids in). So he is making legal mischief for them. It seems that the American style of using litigation as “warfare by other means” is spreading to Europe.
It isn’t clear why he doesn’t want to send his children to the Satmar schools (perhaps he has higher academic standards), or why he doesn’t home school. However this suggests the law suits are a deliberate nuisance against the non-zionist and pro-zionists, and is probably retaliation for their (arguably justifiable, and certainly predictable) harassment of him.
I’m surprised the schools didn’t try to have him summoned by the Satmar Beis Din, which he would have trouble ignoring. Of course, that would also be politically incorrect, especially for the zionist schools he’s been suing.
January 7, 2013 5:40 pm at 5:40 pm #928791em0616MemberHe is becoming crazier by the minute. He always had some screws loose.
January 7, 2013 5:50 pm at 5:50 pm #928792snowbunny3318MemberObviously, his daughters and sons should switch schools… but he clearly doesn’t think like that.
January 7, 2013 5:54 pm at 5:54 pm #928793apushatayidParticipantI say let them in, as long as they adhere to the dress code.
January 7, 2013 6:08 pm at 6:08 pm #928794mogoldParticipantAt least he accomlished one important thing, as this behaviour clearly illustrates that NK members are as crazy as can be & they also have a very warped shitta of “kenuois”.
Therefore he & all NK members (about 14 people worldwide…) have ZERO in common with the Satmar shitta, and ther antics just blackens the real Satmar shitta, to the average person to whom all anti zionists are alike….
January 7, 2013 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #9287952scentsParticipantAre there any posters from Antwerp in the CR (or any one have anyone in Antwerp that can fill them in) that could give us some close up information of what this persons game plan is?
thanks to whoever redid the tittle..
January 7, 2013 6:13 pm at 6:13 pm #928796MDGParticipant“I say let them in, as long as they adhere to the dress code.”
I also think that they should give the kids a good Zionist education 🙂 Have the dress code for boys (at the girls school) to include a kippa serugah, have them sing Hatikva, etc. We’ll see how long that lasts.
January 7, 2013 6:16 pm at 6:16 pm #928797HealthParticipantThis is a massive Chillul Hashem. First perpetrated by the Frum community here in NY, then by the community in Belgium and then by him.
I make a Machoh here in public that noone has the right to take revenge on s/o’s kids because of the parent’s actions.
There is always exceptions -like where the parents will move out of town when they are suspected criminals, if you deny access to the schools for the kids.
January 7, 2013 6:50 pm at 6:50 pm #928798achosidParticipantGreat story, and we owe him all a big yasher koach.
We now have something to talk about.
January 7, 2013 6:52 pm at 6:52 pm #928799YentaParticipantthis guy ia a rasha merusha, a sonei yisroel, someone who has embraced the biggest jew hater in the world.
he is also a mechalel shabbos bifarhesia, giving interviews on shabbos in Iran and other Arab countries.
January 7, 2013 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm #928800HealthParticipantYenta – Ok; and now what’s the Heter to hate his kids and deny them a Frum education?!?!

How many Yeshivas in the US deny education to kids IN THE USA because the parents “Arent Frum enough”

Zahavasdad, do you agree with that?
January 7, 2013 7:43 pm at 7:43 pm #928803shmoelMemberzahavasdad: That is if there are alternative Yeshivos the rejectee can choose. In an out-of-town area where there is only one grade school, they generally will never reject a Jewish child.
January 7, 2013 7:47 pm at 7:47 pm #928804apushatayidParticipantDY. I was denied entry into a yeshiva (almost 30 years ago) because my father wore a straw hat to my farher. It is not a far fetched concept, and is certainly not unheard of. I wouldn’t say it is as common as he implies though.
January 7, 2013 7:54 pm at 7:54 pm #928805zahavasdadParticipantI know people “Blacklisted” and their kids couldnt get into any yeshiva.
January 7, 2013 8:02 pm at 8:02 pm #928806shmoelMemberSo they went to public school?
January 7, 2013 8:16 pm at 8:16 pm #928807apushatayidParticipantBack to the NK. I think if he wants his sons in the local beis yackov or whatever it is called and his girls in the local cheder, then they should accept them with open arms. As long as his boys wear the appropriate beis yackov uniform and the girls wear the appropriate cheder levush, all should be ok.
January 7, 2013 8:27 pm at 8:27 pm #928808zahavasdadParticipantYes unfortuanlty they were forced to go to public school after being blacklisted
Parents could not homeschool (I know someone else who was blacklisted, but was able to Homeschool)
January 7, 2013 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #928809☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantAPY,
I’m not denying it. I’m just saying that if that’s wrong, then so is this.
January 7, 2013 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm #928810TheBearIsBackMemberFweeky Fweedy will do anything for attention.
He is also desperate for money. He is hoping that the girls’ school will give him some gelt so he will withdraw his children.
He is a classic sociopath, who even uses his own children in a quest for the attention he never got in yeshiva ktana.
The kehilla should have taken his kids into the school, to help them lead normal lives. However, it must be noted that Antwerp is in a financial crunch, and Fweeky Fweedy is not only unable to pay tuition, but he is a known cheat and fraudster. It may not have been possible for the school to take a chance on these nebach kids.
January 7, 2013 9:54 pm at 9:54 pm #928811golferParticipantApushatyid, denied because your father wore a straw hat to the farher?? That sounds so disturbing. I’m sure you did ok, but what disgusting attitudes for a young man to observe! Not to mention your father!
I can’t think of a Yeshiva I know of that would do that. Mind if I ask, was it extreme “Willi – style” chassidish? Or did you live in Israel? I’ve found Israelis have very low tolerance levels for anyone who digresses a millimeter from their perceived “norm.”
January 7, 2013 9:55 pm at 9:55 pm #928812TheBearIsBackMemberThe school Fweeky forced his sons into is run by Belz.
The tzioinish/modern school in Antwerp also refused his children admission, so he is about to sue the chassidish boys’ school to get his girls into that school rather than into the girls’ school.
Any school has the right to have admissions standards. Some kids are not allowed into regular public schools either, and they must attend special schools or reform school, depending upon the circumstances. One of the boys supposedly told his melamdim back in Vienna that he wanted to grow up to be a suicide bomber, which, along with schar limud debts, is why he was expelled from that school back then.
If there is an organization similar to Ohel in Antwerp, it is very necessary for this organization to intervene and take responsibility for the innocent children. They are the victims of a cruel, sociopathic father and a mother who is also a victim.
January 7, 2013 9:59 pm at 9:59 pm #928813TheBearIsBackMemberFweeky Fweedy – the man who put the twerp in Antwerp!
January 7, 2013 10:49 pm at 10:49 pm #928814moi aussiMemberHe first tried to register his sons at the Yesodeh Hatorah boys’ school (the school is subsidized by the government), when they refused to accept them, he took the school to court, but he didn’t win the case, so he tried his luck at the Belzer school. The boys’ cheder is not subsidized (they don’t follow the government program), so they can legally refuse the kids, however the girls’ school (Benoth Yerushalaim), is subsidized so they took legal action against the girls’ school and won. (I believe the school appealed to the higher court).
January 7, 2013 10:49 pm at 10:49 pm #928815MammeleParticipantHe’s also known for suing left and right. This is not just about his views. Though his kids are innocent, the question remains whether parents can do whatever they want with no repercussions from the mosdos. Some people need incentives to stay in line, while others need to know that “crossing certain lines” will have consequences. Again, what rights do the schools have?
January 7, 2013 11:12 pm at 11:12 pm #928816Yamoos7123MemberFor all we know he is just fighting for something that he sincerely believes in. Jut because we disagree with it doesn’t mean that we have to make a mockery out of him as a person
January 7, 2013 11:37 pm at 11:37 pm #928817nishtdayngesheftParticipantYeshvas in the US are private enterprises and if they feel that they will not be able to service a certain child, should they be forced to accept them? Or what about when the parents will attempt to undo what ever the schools are trying to teach? You think the school would be wise to accept this child.
As far as Friedman, the school has a simple eitzah, they can show that the results of academic testing show his children lag far behind and plcae them in grades 4 or 5 years younger.

January 8, 2013 5:23 am at 5:23 am #928824yeshivish7ParticipantHe is using his kids as bullets. What he does not realize that he is only firing on his own kids
January 8, 2013 10:13 am at 10:13 am #928825lost in EuropeParticipantThe main reason the schools are scared to accept his children is that he is such a sick guy that they are afraid he will mussar them if he finds even the most petty reason to. He will have them tip toeing around him and that is no way to run a school. He did this in NY, where the principal there is still crying about him. He would mussar his own mother. He keeps his wife locked up all day just like the talibans in Iran. She wanted to divorce him many times, but he threatens to kill her if she does. This whole situation is not so simple. He has been thrown out of Vienna and New York and, since his wife is from Antwerp, he ended up here.
It is such a chillul Hashem here because the media is eating this up. They had to rule that Belz had to take them because first, they are state subsidized, plus then some government schools might use that tactic to refuse muslim children.
Of course, it is the children that suffer. They are being brought up very dysfunctional. Then they will get married and continue this crazy cycle because they know nothing else.
January 8, 2013 10:27 am at 10:27 am #928826lost in EuropeParticipantPlease do NOT even think for one moment that he is doing this for “A pure cause.” He does this everywhere he goes. and leaves destruction and heartache in his path.
January 8, 2013 12:59 pm at 12:59 pm #9288272scentsParticipantSo how was their first day in school?
Do they have friends yet??
January 8, 2013 1:02 pm at 1:02 pm #9288282scentsParticipantA few observations.
One child has chsidishe payos (the older one) the other has it tucked behind his ears, more like the litvishe style.
The wife keeps on looking on her Husband when he speaks, which (IMO) shows that he is the one doing this, she only got dragged into this.
The Children try not to look to their sides, obviously they are not comfortable with this situation.
January 8, 2013 1:37 pm at 1:37 pm #928829lost in EuropeParticipantHe is doing this only because since the Belz Boys school is NOT subsidized, he can do nothing to pressure them to accept his kids. He feels that eventually the boys school will cave in and will have to accept them since they don’t want them in the girls school.
It seems the boys are happy because until now they were home doing nothing all day.
January 8, 2013 2:05 pm at 2:05 pm #928830mi puebloMemberSurely this guy goes to the mikveh. Why don’t they talk some sense into him there?
January 8, 2013 2:23 pm at 2:23 pm #928831YW Moderator-007ModeratorThis nutcase got creamed in an interview on Kol Chai radio.
January 8, 2013 2:52 pm at 2:52 pm #928832spiralParticipantBnos Yerushalayim asked their Rebbe how to handle the situation. He said to accept the boys rather than drag it through the courts, which Friedman was ready for.
