In the past I have worn the zigzag shoes which look decent but really provide very bad arch support and the bottoms are really uncomfortable after standing for more than a few minutes. looking to upgrade my footwear for next year yom kippur with a more sturds shoes. Anyone have recommendations? (Price is not a factor, I am willing to pay for good shoes)

For me, the issue isn’t standing, per se…. I can stand for an hour at Ne’ilah without problem. But standing *with my feet together* in those shoes… well, after about three minutes, I’m already in pain.

September 27, 2012 6:50 pm at 6:50 pm #898134bp27ParticipantWolf – try imagining what it feels like by the Amud. (By the way after a while your feet don’t hurt, because you don’t feel them anymore)

-“say, that’s a gorgeous pair of crocs” noone said to anyone ,ever.

Actually, I think about that all the time.
Not that anyone’s asked me to daven for the amud on RH/YK, but if they did, the primary reason I would have to turn them down is because I don’t think I can stand with my feet together for that long.

September 27, 2012 10:00 pm at 10:00 pm #898139WIYMemberI have crocks, none in black and I would rather avoid wearing that on YK it just doesnt look good, although I doubt sneakers looks much better with a suit. If Im going for comfort I think New Balance might be the way to go.

You sure theres no leather in New Balance shoes?
September 28, 2012 5:09 am at 5:09 am #898140SaysMeMemberdefinitely is the feet together aspect that hurts. After a painful rosh hashana, i brought a pair of slippers/sandals with reflexology insoles and wow what a mechayah!
September 30, 2012 12:20 pm at 12:20 pm #898141abcd2ParticipantNike makes a whole line of sneakers using Hyperfusion or hyperfuse technology (just google nike hyperfusion) you can get low top high top or running styles they give a terrific amount of support and are completely synthetic. BTW Sam2 is correct, a fair amount of sneakers these days do not have leather.
p.s.I am hoping that Moshiach comes before tishabav rolls around and above info will be used for informational purposes only 🙂
