October 31, 2013 6:32 pm at 6:32 pm #1194177DaMosheParticipant
DaasYochid, I just listened to it to see what the words really are. It’s tough to make out, but it sounds like “To enrichen and liven”, not enliven.
October 31, 2013 10:17 pm at 10:17 pm #1194178writersoulParticipantSeeing as “enrichen” isn’t a word (at least not in English…) never heard of the song but are you sure it’s not enrich?
Now I’ve got one- my dad likes this one:
As we go on this journey that our fathers walked before us
As we go on this journey in search of the ancient wisdom…
October 31, 2013 10:45 pm at 10:45 pm #1194179justsayinMemberHow about “Its a lovely world and I’m a part of it, thank you Hashem for making me…
October 31, 2013 11:33 pm at 11:33 pm #1194180justsayinMemberThis one you know
And in a case of glass they put me on display
Where visitors would look at me and say,
But they knew not what was inside my heart.
November 1, 2013 12:56 am at 12:56 am #1194181DaMosheParticipantwritersoul: That song was posted twice already. It’s Seven Shepherds by Chaim Dovid.
November 1, 2013 3:26 am at 3:26 am #1194182☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantJustsayin, The Place Where I Belong from the original Journeys.
November 1, 2013 11:58 am at 11:58 am #1194183DaMosheParticipantDaasYochid, I listened to it again, in slow motion (where did I get that from?). I stick by what I said before – it sounds like “to enrichen and liven”.
November 1, 2013 2:50 pm at 2:50 pm #1194184☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI respectfully disagree. Listen carefully to where the “d” is.
November 1, 2013 3:49 pm at 3:49 pm #1194185DaMosheParticipantDaasYochid, here’s a hint for my last one (which I’ll post again so you don’t have to go back a page):
You see I’m riddled with confusion
as I witness the delusion
The tune was composed by Yossi Green, but he didn’t write the words. The album is from the early 90s.
November 1, 2013 7:49 pm at 7:49 pm #1194186writersoulParticipantDaMoshe: Was it? I haven’t been here for a while…Sorry :(. It just happened to be on in the kitchen as I typed.
So now an easy one to make up for it 🙂 :
“We learned in a dark, frigid cellar…”
November 2, 2013 11:51 pm at 11:51 pm #1194187☕ DaasYochid ☕Participant“We learned in a dark, frigid cellar…”
You’re joking, right?
November 3, 2013 12:00 am at 12:00 am #1194188writersoulParticipantHey, I SAID it was easy…
(Though to be honest, I wouldn’t have guessed it before I went to camp- before that, I only knew the chorus. If I’d done that, you could have rightfully kicked me out of the thread for contempt.)
Harder one, then (or at least I think so):
“Their hearts are filled with emptiness,
Confusion takes its toll…”
November 3, 2013 12:19 am at 12:19 am #1194189☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantWS, THEY learned in a dark frigid cellar.
“Their hearts are filled with emptiness,
Confusion takes its toll…”
Sounds like the onslaught of posters we’ve recently had in the CR.
November 3, 2013 12:31 am at 12:31 am #1194190yitayningwutParticipantHehe
November 3, 2013 4:23 am at 4:23 am #1194191DaMosheParticipantDaasYochid, I listened to it again, on better speakers, and I will concede this point – I now believe you are correct. To enrich and enliven.
November 4, 2013 7:14 pm at 7:14 pm #1194192Click VegetableMemberHow about these…..
1- …we hear you’re voices loud and clear…
2 – …from my comfy soft bed to the ice cold street…
3 – Hashem knows just what happened there’s no reason to deny…
November 6, 2013 2:49 pm at 2:49 pm #1194193DaMosheParticipantI know the 3rd one is from the Marvelous Middos Machine, the Ga’avah Song. I don’t know the first two.
DaasYochid, do you want to give up on my previous one? Or do you want some more time to look?
November 6, 2013 4:11 pm at 4:11 pm #1194194☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI give up. I don’t have time to actively look, although I sometimes play my music collection in “shuffle” and could randomly come across it (if I have it).
November 6, 2013 4:23 pm at 4:23 pm #1194195DaMosheParticipantIt’s from Flight 103, by Ira Heller.
November 6, 2013 5:02 pm at 5:02 pm #1194196☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantI’ve never heard of it.
Here’s an oldie for you:
There is no gloom like the darkness of the lonely; there is no chill like the cold of despair. No solitude like a person abandoned for expressing a desire, his heritage to share.
November 6, 2013 5:52 pm at 5:52 pm #1194197Click VegetableMemberGuys,
I still have three unanswered ones…
Let’s see who really knows heir stuff
November 6, 2013 7:52 pm at 7:52 pm #1194198☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantCV, DaMoshe answered #3 (although I think it was actualy the emes song).
#2 is from “In the Middle of the Night” from Variations 3 (hat tip to Google).
January 2, 2014 3:34 am at 3:34 am #1194199workingParticipantThere is a song I heard recently and I need hep to figure out who sings the song. It has the words “Ma Tagid Li” in the low and high parts. Please Help.
January 3, 2014 1:36 am at 1:36 am #1194200SayIDidIt™Participantworking: You are referring to the beautiful song “Hishbati ??????”. The words are from Shir HaShirim
?????????????? ???????, ??????? ????????????,
??? ?????????? ??? ??????? ??? ?????????? ???
????????? ??????? ?????
(??? ?????? ? ?)
It seems like this song was copmposed by Duddy Kalish and can be heard on the CD “L’Chaim Zitz – Hishbati” or just search Google for Hishbati.
January 3, 2014 1:59 am at 1:59 am #1194201SayIDidIt™ParticipantHow about this one (just noticed this…):

September 11, 2014 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm #1194204☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantLondon School of Jewish Song: Children of Silence. Not from the London with Neginah record, where they changed the lyrics; from a release of four songs, which , I think, was actually called Children of Silence.

September 12, 2014 12:50 am at 12:50 am #1194207Bookworm120ParticipantCorrect, SiDi! 😀 I wouldn’t even have remembered the track listing – very good!
September 12, 2014 2:51 am at 2:51 am #1194208RandomexMemberDaasYochid, you shouldn’t have done that. You ignored your orders. You may have to pay a price for that quite soon…
But if this thread is to be revived – BY MY OWN HANDS! MEIN GOT!
– then let’s do this my way (no highway option).
Rule #1 – If it’s Googleable, don’t post it.
Rule #2 – If it’s Googleable, don’t post it.
To avoid Googleability, instead of lyrics, you can attempt to
sound out the song’s melody. Do you accept this challenge?
September 12, 2014 3:25 am at 3:25 am #1194209RandomexMemberOkay – I/ay is to be written “ai”, while A/ey is to be written “ay”. E is to be written “ee”. This should help prevent confusion. More to follow should it seem necessary and/or I think it up.
Also, anyone who can list the three references/quotes and the one(two?) decoy refs/quotes in my 1st post… has too much time on their hands.
September 12, 2014 12:48 pm at 12:48 pm #1194210SayIDidIt™ParticipantBookworm, I knew it was Variations, so I checked in my files for disk/title…

(Not that I like it. On the contrary…)
EDIT: And another! – Avu michrut! Aza meirut!
(I liked this one back in the day and I’d probably still like it now. Haven’t heard it in years…)

I’m trying to decide whether or not that’s a compliment.
September 19, 2014 12:05 pm at 12:05 pm #1194218DaMosheParticipantOk, getting back to actual words instead of trying to write out a tune…
“Thinking of your friends should be a rule of thumb”
September 21, 2014 7:40 pm at 7:40 pm #1194219RandomexMemberDaMoshe, I didn’t say it couldn’t be lyrics, just that it couldn’t be Googleable!
And the only Google result for your lyric is this very page.
I’ve got some ideas, but will anybody really care if I post them?
September 22, 2014 11:55 am at 11:55 am #1194220DaMosheParticipantI can’t believe DaasYochid hasn’t gotten it yet!
September 22, 2014 12:03 pm at 12:03 pm #1194221☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantDoesn’t ring a bell.
September 22, 2014 12:26 pm at 12:26 pm #1194222DaMosheParticipantHere’s a hint: the album came out in 1992, and was second in a series.
September 22, 2014 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm #1194223☕ DaasYochid ☕ParticipantThat should be a good hint, but it still doesn’t sound familiar.
September 22, 2014 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm #1194224DaMosheParticipantIt’s Be a Mentch, from Miami Experience 2.

“My folks never said much,
Sept did ya do your chores today,

G-d bless the USA”
