Looks like a came late to this game. Sounds like fun. Comlink-X, I don’t know a 1998 version of Yesh Tikvah. I do know the real version with the chords.

“Kulanu Echad” by Yeedle Werdyger. Listen to it and

    you’ll see what I mean. (I think it’s a better song.)

Wow, somebody else noticed that “Kulanu Echad” and “Shiru Lamelech” – Track 1 and Track 6 on the same albulm are the same song! I don’t know if it’s better; it’s certainly different. It is faster and more upbeat than the “Kumzits Style” Shiru Lamelech

That’s not what I said. Are you referring to something else in this thread?

Comlink – What were you referring to when you mentioned this song? If you listen to the second part of both Track 1 [Shiru Lamelech] and Track 6 [Kulanu Echad] of that albulm, you’ll notice every note is the same; it’s amazing how he got away with the same song twice on one albulm.

    what were you pointing out?

A very sad week for the Jewish music world, with the passing of Ben Zion Shenker.

I am a huge fan of the Modzitzer music, and often use it in my davening.

    Totally agree, DaM.

    A great loss.

A remarkable fusion of musical talent with Torah, Avodah & mentshlichkeit.

So much of the so-called Jewish music we listen to today misses the mark, at least in my opinion.

He did us all a great service in preserving the art of true Jewish neginah.

(IMHO there’s nothing like listening to the Modzitz Kaddish & Shoshanas Yaakov. I’m sure you have your favorites too.)

I do have my favorites, including those.

Aside from his preserving Modzitzer nigunim for us and future generations, he composed many beautiful nigunim of his own, some of which are standards which some people are surprised to learn were composed after the war.

These include the famous Eishes Chayil, Mizmor L’Dovid, and Yosis Alayich.

    Y’hi zichro baruch.

I recently heard (over Lakewood Plaza’s outdoor sound system) part of a Yiddish song that sounded like it was about a visit to a DMV, passport office, or some such. What might it have been?
