Like to suggest a thread of identifying the ‘secular’ tune on which a popular song is based. Helpful to identify approximate decade???

    e.g.

Oid Yaishvu Zkainim Uzkainos (second part) – (if you don’t know it, go to Gruntig.net & search for Oid Yaishvu)

I am convinced I recognize this tune from some long-ago era (70’s?) and I think it was not in English – Italian, Spanish or French, perhaps, as the tune keeps going through my mind but no specific words are emerging…

    Purim USA –

There is a man, he’s from Amalek, it’s in his blood to kill….

and he’s the one, the rosho Homon, who’s sitting right next to you

What is that tune? Intro to a TV Western? Gunsmoke? Bonanza?….

Lichtiger Shabbos on MBDs Just One Shabbos Album is, (in my opinion and anyone who has heard both songs agrees with me) the tune from the song Close Every Door from Andrew Lloyd Webers, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat. Dont be surprised if the tune in question is from a TV show.

If this thread is implying that certain jewish artists are stealing i think it is a slippery slope. If its an out and out parody like the maccabeats chanukah song thats one thing but i dont think anyone should suggest that someone in the jewish music industry would steal ideas. I’m sure that wasn’t your intention apy but it could be taken that way.

It’s old news. The prelude to one of Shwekey’s songs is also the prelude to a Carrie Underwood song.

Maybe Andrew Lloyd Weber wrote the music for MBDs Lichtiger Shabbos.

It’s not nice to imply? That Yidden is the tune of Ghenghis Khan? C’mon?

Anyhow, are we allowed to post links to songs? That would be helpful if possible.
