In another thread http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/ma-rabu-masecha-hashem#post-247124 I was taken to task for referring to ?’ ???? ??????? ??”? as Mr Mendlowitz. I remembered reading of a Gadol of his day referring to him as Nistar Mendlowitz. Does anyone remember who?
So far I found only the below, but I remember it was someone other than Rav Chinn who coined that
May 16, 2011 3:18 pm at 3:18 pm #767473shlishiMemberR. Shrage Feivel was a tzaddik nistar. He refused to be called anything other than Mr. Mendlowitz. Once at a function the emcee called him up to speak and introduced him as Rabbi S. F. Mendlowitz. He refused to come to the podium despite repeatedly being called as such. It was only after the emcee consented to introduce him as “Mr. Mendlowitz” did he come up to speak.

Didn’t you learn how to activate Hebrew? http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/%d7%93%d7%99-%d7%90%d7%99%d7%93%d7%99%d7%a9%d7%a2-%d7%a7%d7%99%d7%99%d7%98-%d7%a9%d7%a4%d7%99%d7%9c/page/25#post-245137
May 16, 2011 6:25 pm at 6:25 pm #767477am yisrael chaiParticipantThe rav did not want extra kovod so as not to detract from the rav’s avoda and the modesty was legendary.
This is not an issue after ptira and is certainly deserving of kovod.
A Latin apology is better than no apology.
wb, your apology has not been forthcoming after your offending comment had been pulled after I wrote “wb-
That comment was uncalled for.
You have no idea who is homebound, in the hospital, or anything.”

And why mine did not.

I still have no idea what was so offensive about that comment,
I do not think that an apology was due from you. You wanted to admit error fine & beautiful.
I was not hurt and of course not engaged in a vendetta,(I suggested ????? not ?????) simply wondering out loud why you would choose latin
